Default Monday Chick Chat

Good morning from the metropolis of Delta. A week from now Cottage and I will be sipping coffee and cranking us up.

Another busy day ahead and most of it will be in the car again. It looks like a lovely day and I just may be able to work in some garden tasks. I really. really need a garden elf to bung together my raised bed but I doubt that will happen for a while. I'm planning on a fall crop of beans, lettuce and spinach but I may be out there planting lettuce and spinach in December for spring.

I hope your Monday is a good one. I'm about to take my coffee and lists out to the front porch and consolidate them while enjoying the scent of the mock orange.

Enjoy the summer - it's waaaay too short.

My coffee's good, but not nearly as good as it's going to be next week at this time.
I had my first cup outside while enjoying the sunshine which has been rare around here. It's looking to be a gorgeous day! Yesterday was a rain free day, too, and we got a lot done in the yard, and put in a new garden plot. We cheated a little and put in some larger seedlings, but that will make up for the late start we got.
It looks like I'll be spending most of the afternoon in my car, but the morning will be free-play time for the girls after they do the lessons in their workbooks while I start getting things organized and packed for their vacation next week. Only 6 more wake-ups! I can hardly wait!

OK, it's time to put this Monday in motion and get motivated and moving!

Good morning Can I just say that I am soooo jealous?! I hope you two are going to stop by and say hello every morning

Ruth - I'm glad I'm not the only one still getting that garden in! I have on 3 X 3 bed left to plant but it's just been too wet. You might be on to something with the fall crop plan. That way I can say it was intentional

Cottage - A sunny morning sounds wonderful

Back to work today. Seems like I spend my entire week counting down to the weekend. Tonight is yoga and I will not be a slacker like I was last week! I sure hope we see a little sun too!

Good Morning!
Hi, Cottage and Ruth. It sure sounds fun for you two to get together. It spurred me on to see exactly where Delta is. I now have a visual and a little history. Hope you both hit the road and get all your chores done. Have a great day.

Me, tis the first day of VBS so I'm up early to make a SB approved banana loaf. I can have a treat with the ladies this morning while abstaining from the best cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted. Who knows what the rest of the day will bring. I may just head to the pool and tread water in the deep end as it is so crowded this time of year.

ETA-Hi, Cyndi

Hello to all yet to come, and thanks for the support!

Happy Monday!

Ruth, If I were closer, I'd bung your beds, but you'd have to tell me what that means.

Cottage, In my house, we count sleeps, not wake-ups.

Cyndi, Hooray for yoga! Do you take other classes during the week, too?

Lexxiss, Have fun at VBS. If you can be strong around funnel cake, those cinnimon rolls won't be a problem!

Me, It's going to be another quiet day in the office. My boss won't be back for several weeks, and my supervisor is taking another day off. The therapist has a full day, so I'll dress better than I did Friday. I'm still wearing my shiny silver Birkenstocks.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Ruth - I'm hoping Cottage slows you down a little bit, and you get some time to relax!

Cottage - I hear the countdown!! You're pretty close to me...that probably means I could get away with planting a garden at the new house. Although my friend is right...I'm not sure I'll have much time to maintain it!

Cyndi - I'm hoping to start yoga after we move...I'll finally have room, and a spot I won't wake up the kids. Hoping it will help with my back too?

Debbie - VBS...my kids started that last night..YIPPEE! It would be difficult resisting the cinnamon rolls!!

Me - well, the work has begun. And I'm realizing I don't have the endurance I used to!! (of course, maybe the first good night's sleep will help...) I pulled up the bedroom rug, pulled up all those annoying little staples (it has hardwoods underneath ), tore down wallpaper, and now removing wallpaper adhesive (which is just a LOAD of fun...). But, it will look fantastic when finished!! I can't wait!!

Diet wise...hmmph. I haven't been very good lately (had my first piece in ages of real pizza the other day), but I'm finding I eat a WHOLE lot less because of being so busy. Never mind the strenuous work decreases my appetite. I have a menu this week so I don't get tooooo bad!!

Have a great day ladies! May the north get not *quite* so much rain this week!!

Chelby - If it weren't for Birkenstocks half of Vermont would be barefoot year round (yes, some do wear them with socks in the winter!).

Yoga is my only class. Right now I'm taking Kundalini - great core workout!

Good morning!

Ruth, it's overcast here! I am hoping the rain holds off till after our hike this morning. Yes, Jade and I stop on the way from dropping DS off every morning at work, and take a nice walk! Yesterday we got rained on! I need so bad to weed the garden, but it's been raining for the past few days! Enjoy gardening for me!

Cottage, ditto the above! lol....

Cyndi, enjoy the workout, and be thankful for the job! (still jobless here!)

Lexxis, have fun at VBS! And good luck abstaining on something you know you enjoy! But enjoy the banana loaf!

Hi Chelby!

Twynn,... remodeling! HOW FUN! I love watching the room come together when done! And a hardwood floor? Why do people cover those up?????

Me... Down to 178 again (yes, still yo yoing.) I wish I could say it's 100% SB... while the foods are allowable I'm not eating nearly enough. One way to lose weight, no money to buy food! I have the staples, veggies, meats, milk... and wraps... so my basic daily digest is an egg muffin for bf.. either salad with chick peas or a wrap (blt or chicken) for lunch, and either one for dinner! No snacks in house, so been snacking on ice... need to continue the iron so I don't continue to do that one! LOL.

I'm trying to come up with the money to buy a car this week. Neighbor has a nice little Escort for 500, want to get it for my son. Only has 90k miles, it's a 99. Sigh... if I do buy it I'm stretching ALL my bills back a month and I'm already straining. The fact I know the folks and they are immaculate, and I know whats wrong with it (needs a flex plate) and whats been done within the last month.... including an oil change last week and new wheelbearings.

Anyway... The pains seem to have subsided, without the stress of work. HHMMM, perhaps I'm allergic to working for a stressed out boss? Anyway, still looking for a permanent position, considering taking the local exams to work for the government. Not as much pay, but the health benies are better! And perhaps could work closer to home?

Hi all to come!

Cyndi -- Socks with Birkenstocks is funny!!! Of course, we don't have the winter that you have. In Alabama, I love the little old men who wear black dress socks with their wingtips and shorts. Cracks me up!

What a great visit you two will have, Ruth and Cottage! I'm hoping to get into the garden, too, Ruth.

Love the new avatar, Cottage!

Cyndi, I need to replant some rows in our garden, so even though it's in, I'm late too. And I have a bunch of flower seedlings that are growing leggy inside. Seems we all need a "dirt date" today!

Debbie, what's your VBS theme this year? I haven't talked to our organizer yet to see what ours is, but we're likely to be in town and able to help this year, which is great, because we missed the last two due to vacations.

Chelby, I'm so jealous of your Birks!

:congrats: on the new home, Twynn! I'm thrilled for you! It's hard to do all that work after a day full of regular work (or a week full of it). Give yourself lots of credit! I highly recommend vinegar and hot water for getting rid of that adhesive. We tried every product from Lowe's before we did plain ol' vinegar, and it was the only that that actually worked!

Yup, Loriann, it's been hard to get in the garden around here with all the rain lately!

Me:
We had a really horrific end to last week. I'm still reeling and don't really feel like typing much about it right now. Basic details are that our dog got into some chocolate (but is totally okay now) and we unexpectedly had to put one of our rabbits to sleep on Friday. He'd been with us for 8 years and was a major part of our family and neither of us is sure how to go on without him. Anyways....one day at a time, I guess.

Hope everyone (including me) gets some garden time today. It's such a healing thing!

Laurie - I'm glad to hear your dog is fine but I'm so sorry to hear about your rabbit. We had a scare yesterday when one of our cats, Allie, went out around 5AM and didn't come home until after 10PM. She usually stays close but I'm not sure where she spent the day.

Me - I had about 20 kids show up for the Junior Staff Pool party at my house on Saturday. I'm actually very glad that all 54 didn't show up but I do need to figure out how to get service hour certificates to the remainder. Mailing certificates and patches to that many is expensive. Robert dropped off Brian for the party but then Brian chose to stay with me rather than spending the rest of the weekend (including Father's Day) with his Dad. I tried to find out why but he just wouldn't say. I'm thinking Robert may have been pressuring Brian to come to the party based on an email I got from Robert telling me:
You need to stop planning "no dad allowed" events.
Where is Brian's birthday party ?

I told him I am under no obligation to invite him to parties at the house and that since he will have Brian for a month that includes his birthday he could just have his own party for him. Brian would have been horribly uncomfortable having his dad here.

I'm getting a new refrigerator today and I'm so excited. The old one in the garage has a dead freezer so I'm going to move my 18 year old one that works to the garage and buy an almost new one from Don that he has been storing. He doesn't need it and it's got all the features we've been wanting.

Other than this stuff, we've just been getting Brian packed to leave for summer camp on Sunday.

Hi chickies,
Hope everyone is well. I have been back for about a week but just can't seem to get to a computer too often.
Visit to Quebec was wonderful and Quebec City is very anglophone friendly so don't hesitate to visit if you want to walk on the oldest street in North America and feel like you are in a foreign country for a while. The food there is wonderful. I even met a clerk at a store that took rug weaving from the same teacher (in Peterbourgh, Ontario)that I took a course from. We also travelled to North Conway, N.H.(have to love the no tax) and visited the Costco in Burlington although I found the prices are not too must cheaper than ours. We logged on 1800 miles.
DH decided to rent a dumpster so we have been decluttering the storage area in our basement and demolishing some of our deck which is not 28 years old. It will feel great to have everything done.
Back on plan now, I am going out west at the end of August and have to shed a few pounds by then.
take care
Sophie

Hi
Checkin in! Umm...banana loaf much better then cravelicious cinnamon rolls!!
VBS theme is "Camp Edge" Edge is Experience&DiscoverGodEverywhere. I'm glad someone else thinks this all up

Laurie, very sorry to hear about your bunny.

Got home, and Ma called. She was on her way over so I got a little extra exercise cleaning up her pad of all the misc stuff I'd been storing. Whew....glad she phoned!

Chelby, Alaskans, too, wear socks with Birkies. I have a pair of snakeskin, but when I lost all the weight they are way too big. My favorite combo, on our first "real date" in Hawaii, my now DH was going to wear tube socks with velcro tennies. I said He is now much better after almost 20 yrs married to a fashion police officer.
Sophie, where "west" are you going?
PearlRose and Kierie
Loriann, keep the faith! You have a very positive attitude!
Twynn, enjoy "enjoying" your projects! I remember the old saying, "this too, shall pass."
Barb, enjoy that fridge!
