Default Worldlies jump in June - where's the year gone?

Here it is. Not much inspiration. But lets jump and jiggle and joyfully pedal to shift this weight - well for me anyway.

Good morning ladies,

Can't believe we're in a new month already. Sorry I haven't been much on the personals, life's been just really busy lately - not much computer time. This HomeOwners thing sure is taking alot of my precious time. Have 2 meetings alone this week. 2 last week and one next week. BAH.

DH is doing ok. No word on the job front but he is happy and very, very busy at home. I am jealous because he is easily losing weight too.

Gotta run - have a good one.

Happy Monday - Happy June!

We ended up not going fishing. DMIL said it was too chilly for her....so we went for a drive in the beautiful Wisconsin countryside, saw horses and cows (of course) and also woodchucks, deer and wild turkeys (not the bottled kind - though that kind would've been fun as well!).

I'm afraid I'm not doing as good as Annie or Mel on the exercise challenge, and certainly not as good Jolly. I got to the gym on Thursday, and did some walking around this weekend. I'm hoping to get to the gym tonight, but the puppies wanted to go out a lot during the night, so I'm a bit sleep deprived. I am good about doing my PT stretches and strengthening exercises, but I know that won't burn calories as fast as cardio does.

I'm thinking positively that my back will get better in the next few days! I've got plans the next two weekends that involve A LOT of walking. Next weekend DH and I are going to the drag races in Illinois on Friday, and the following weekend DH, DMIL and I are going to the zoo in Chicago - we're deciding whether to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo or the Brookfield Zoo...Brookfield is much bigger and more animals.

Okay....now I'm catching up on all your posts from Friday and the weekend...so I apologize if I'm commenting on "old news".

Happy - Hope you and DH were able to figure out the pension stuff. I totally agree with what you said on Friday about naps at work. When I had pneumonia and had barely enough energy to keep my eyes open, I said (jokingly) to my boss that I'd like to go into a conference room so I could take a nap on my lunch hour (as it was too cold to go out to my car to nap). He said (jokingly) that I didn't need to do that...he saw me frequently take naps at my desk! That guy was such a comedian! So nice that you take such good care of the birds and other critters in your yard.

Mel - I hope you're feeling better than yesterday. Good idea to cancel your work with the election. Your health is more important. I got a big smile when I read your post that I'll be giving you and Annie a run for your money any day now in the exercise challenge. I sure hope so. You two are doing so great though! Congrats on all the pedaling and the stretching!

Shad - I'm glad to hear the new job is going along okay, despite computer worms, blown up USBs and poor contract wording. Too funny about the 81 year old man whose only Internet interest is porn! Guess that's what keeps him young at heart! So nice that you were able to meet up with a friend from the Jakarta days! As for June, like Mel, I will be jiggling and joyfully pedaling...but not so sure about the jumping.

Patty - Glad you had such a nice weekend! Congrats on being a Godmother. And congrats on the weight loss!

Jolly - Such a nice day you had to take the "kids" to the dog park! You are a good mom. Glad you had fun furniture shopping with your sister.

Annie - I hope you had a great weekend! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Love and hugs,

Happy Monday and Happy June...

Didn't get to go on my Harley ride yesterday, poor Tony is so sick. It is the polyps in his sinuses. He had surgery about 11 years ago, but is needing it again. He is calling the ENT this morning to make an appointment to see about getting it done. When the polyps flare up it cause him to get strep throat and upper respitory infection. He sounded awful and coughs just about every breath. Bless his heart.

A good friend called me on the way to work this morning just crying and crying. She had to put her 14 yr old doggie, Rudy, down yesterday. I just didn't really know what to say other than time heals. It has made me kind of sad today.

MEL...love the doc is in cartoon, however it could be for real in your case.. Great job on the exercising. Take it easy, we don't want you getting all the way down with that throat.

Shad...glad the job is going halfway well. Sounds better than the last. Thanks for the June thread, what would we do without you. The 81 yr old man you taught computer class to, at that age, h*ll let him look at porn what harm could it do? lol

Patty...this year I have planted 3 types of tomatos, 3 types of peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, spinach (ready for harvest), zuchinni, then flowers petunias and cannas and one tree. Congrats on the 1 lb down. That is great and better than gaining.

Happy...sounds like the birds keep you entertained. How sweet is that.

Jolly...Those closings on houses can go any which way. You just never know what is going to happen.

Ceejay...enjoy the sunshine.

Ms. Chelle....Water aerobics are the best. I have done them in the past. It is so refreshing (water) and feels great while doing it. It is so easy on all the joints, muscles, well body really. You should try it.

Hello to everyone I may have missed.

Have a fabulous day All...

Much Love and Many Hugs...

Oh and I forgot...I got weighed and measured at Curves on Saturday. Since joining at the end of March, so about 9 weeks, I have lost 1.5 lbs and a total of 14 inches. It will get harder and slow down from this point forward however the cool thing is if I flex my arm I definitely have a slight muscle showing instead of just flab and fat. Now I do have the flab and fat around but it is just a toner flab and fat. hahahahhaha

Annie - Congrats on the weight and inches LOST! And the toning!! You rock, sista! Sounds like Curves is doing the trick, and you are SO dedicated! Sorry to hear that Tony is so sick. I hope the ENT can fix him up soon. Sorry to hear about your friend having to put her dog down. It's so sad to lose a beloved furry family member. When I get home today, I'll try and squeeze myself into my bathing suit - I don't think I've been in a pool or worn my suit since Jolly and I used to go to the gym together all those years ago. If I can get into the suit, I'll try the water aerobics class. I'm a bit concerned because it doesn't say it's a beginner class...Oh well, I'll do what I can.

Annie - for your friend

The Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Rudy will be patiently waiting for your friend one day.

Happy - Thanks for posting "The Rainbow Bridge". I've read it so many times before, but it's comforting each time I read it as I have several beloved furry babies who have crossed over.

Stuffed Chicken Breasts With Tomato Salad

Makes 4 servings
Hands-on Time: 0hr 20m Total Time: 0hr 55m

Ingredients
1 6.5-ounce jar artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
4 6-ounce boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
kosher salt and pepper
2 beefsteak tomatoes, cut into bite-size pieces
1 shallot, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
8 baguette slices, toasted (optional)

Directions
1. Mix the artichokes, Parmesan, and 1 tablespoon of the thyme in a small bowl.

2. Cut a 2-inch pocket in the thickest part of each chicken breast. Stuff a quarter of the artichoke mixture into each pocket. Rub the chicken breasts with 1 teaspoon of the oil and season with 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.

3. Heat a grill or grill pan to medium. Grill the chicken, turning once, until cooked through, 6 to 7 minutes per side.

4. Mix the tomatoes, shallot, vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and the remaining oil and thyme in a large bowl.

5. Slice the chicken, if desired, and serve with the tomato salad and baguette slices, if using.

Tip:
When substituting dried herbs for fresh ones, use about a third of the amount called for in the recipe.

Well, I went for a 10 minute walk at lunch. I know it's not much. I started having pain after about 5 minutes, but then had to turn around and walk back. After sitting at my desk for 5 minutes, I was good as new, so no harm done. If I just do that every day (or maybe twice a day), I'll eventually be able to increase my time/distance per outing. But don't worry (and Mel, no rolling pin please), I won't do anything to further injure myself, but it is pretty bad when my 78 year old DMIL can out-walk me. But I keep telling myself I will get better and slow and steady wins the race. I'm hoping to do water aerobics tonight....if not, then I'll go to the gym and work out. Either way....I won't overdo....I promise.

Ceejay - Did you hear about the two soldiers shot in the recruiting office in Little Rock (one was killed and the other wounded)? One of them is my co-worker's nephew - he's still not sure if his nephew was the one killed or wounded, but he believes he was probably the one killed. Such an awful, senseless tragedy! I feel so badly for my co-worker and his family.
