Default Does anyone here own a blackberry?

If so, what kind? What do you love about it? What do you not love about it? Would you suggest one to a friend? I'm looking at getting either the curve or the pearl, but I want to make sure it's something I will really enjoy using for at least the next 2 years.

I have a Curve and a Storm and have previously used a world edition and a pearl. They will pry my Curve out of my cold dead hand because it is the best phone I have ever had. I work for a cell phone company so have tried just about every PDA on the market. I avoided blackberry for a long time because it just seemed so different from the Treo that I was using and looked like it would be hard to figure out. My boss finally made me switch into a blackberry so I could at least show customer's how to use it. It is the most dependable, reliable, durable phone I have ever used. I am ROUGH on phones, frequently dropping and finding other ways to destroy them. So far this one just keeps on ticking. I don't have to reset it all the time like I used to do with my Treo's. If deciding between the Pearl and the Curve, the difference is the amount of in phone memory (the curve has more than double the internal memory, so if you get a Pearl, get a memory card too) and the miniaturized keyboard. I didn't stay in my Pearl long enough to get used to the keyboard, but my other friends find it very easy to adjust to the keypad.

I have the pearl and I am looking forward to the curve if I do not switch to the iphone. DO NOT get the storm.

The pearl's keyboard is a giant pain in the a$$.

My brother upgraded to a Pearl from the older BB and hates the Pearl keyboard - has had it for two years and still hates it. I had an older BB for work and just updated to the Curve. Only had it a week, but love it so far.

My personal phone is a Samsung Blackjack II, which I also love.

I've heard some complaints about the Storm, though some say the current revision fixes some of the problems. Some don't.

Thanks guys! Steph, I have two more questions if you have a moment to answer them ( or anyone if they know the answer )

1. Will I be able to transfer my phone numbers to the new phone

2. Will I be able to transfer the pics from my old phone to my new one? It is my understanding ( which could be wrong ) that I will not even be able to turn my phone on ( the one I have now, a katana ) once the new phone is activated. What will happen to my pics, and text's in there now?

and yes, the pearl's keyboard does look smaller. Looks like there are 2 letters per button instead of the 3 I have now. ( for texting ) The only reason I would get the pearl is for the smaller phone. Is it hard getting use to carrying a larger phone around? Maybe they aren't even "that" big. IDK, I've never held one.

If you haven't used a BB before, you might not have trouble with the Pearl keyboard. I've used PDA phones with full QWERTY keyboards for so long I couldn't go back to a 2 or 3 letter per key phone now. The Curve is a little larger than the Pearl, yes. My brother does like the size of the Pearl.

Who is your service with? If you have a SIM card I believe that they can transfer your numbers, but transferring from a non-PDA to a PDA type phone hasn't always worked for me in the past. I've always been able to turn my old phones on, but without a transfer method like Bluetooth or some type of connectivity the pics and texts on the old phone were stuck there. The PDA phones can be synced to your computer and the pics can be stored there, but I don't think the Katana can be synced like that.

Of course, I may be wrong. I've had a lot of phones, but am by no means an expert.

We've got two. My wife has the Curve and absolutely loves it. I've got a slightly older model (with side scroll-wheel) and also love it. I would never go with a smaller keyboard. I love the full keyboard.

The phone quality on both is as good as any cell phone I've had, if that helps...

I'm freaking out! I have a Tilt and they have discontinued them. Now, I'm treating it like pure gold. I don't wanna replace it. I love the touch screen size and the qwerty board. It's also cool the way the top half tilts and looks like a mini laptop. It's not necessary, just cool to have the guys at work be jealous. I will keep this sucker working as long as possible!!!

Yeah, that's who makes 'em. A guy I know who's a forensic computer tech said that HTC is not a very well liked company.

Most carriers do have a system of some sort that will transfer phone numbers from a regular phone into a smartphone. If your carrier doesn't offer it, a lot of indirect agents have them and will just charge you a minimal fee to transfer ($10). Your old phone will still be able to power on, even after you move to the new phone, it just won't be able to place calls, so you will still be able to view your pictures. If they are saved on a memory card, you can transfer them to your computer using a memory card reader. If not, most carriers offer a sort of "online album" that you can send your pictures to. Worst case, you can send them to an email address so you can save them to your computer.

I have a storm and I like it, but I haven't had any previous models of BB to say it's better or worse than.

By law you should be able to use the same number.

If you have a SIM card you can transfer your pics... just make sure your pics are saved to your sim card and NOT your phone (otherwise the pics go wherever your old phone goes!)

I had the Pearl and loved it. I inherited DH's Curve when he got an iPhone and I love it even more!

...of course, I don't have an iPhone..yet...
