Question What are your mini milestones?

Most of us have them, 5%, 10%, 10 pounds, under 200, no longer obese, etc...

What are your mile markers along this weight loss journey? Do you have any milestones that are unusual or unique? Do any of them come with interesting stories behind them? Just curious!

My first one was 10% of my body weight, I guess just to prove that I could do this.

I just passed weighing 225 which was my last known weight before weighing in at 250 at my first Pre-Natal appointment with my son. I gained 15 pounds and weighed 265 at nine months pregnant. Eeek.

Now my goal is 195! (Weigh less then 200, weigh less then my husband, and no longer be obese, just overweight!)

My goal is to get to 175, see how I feel about my body and if continuing down to 160 is realistic. I'm happy anywhere around 160-175, I think.

Oh yes...I have a few.

My first was to be under 250 and that I have met.

The next is to lose 25 pounds (almost there) because, for some reason, that seems like a REAL loss to me..I don't know why....it just does.

Then, to not HAVE to shop in plus size stores. Around here, most "regular" ladies clothing stores have up to either size 16 or 18 so I would love to be able to fit into something there. My size 20's are starting to feel a bit big so I am hoping that this goal is not TOO far down the road.

After that, the next milestone would be to be under 200 pounds. This brings me back to my prenancy weight with my second baby and it was after his birth that the pounds piled on.

Next, 185 would get me below my husband's weight.

Then under 150 ...

Sigh...seems like a million years away but breaking it down to mini-milestones helps to keep it in perspective.

My first milestone was a negative one - I hit 250 lbs!

As far as my loss goes my first milestone was 20 lbs. lost, it just seemed to really solidify and feel "real" at that point.

The second milestone for me was to get under 200 lbs.

That's all I've hit so far but my next milestone will definitely be to get under 185 because that's the lowest weight I got to before I put 20 lbs. back on last year.

A non-scale related milestone that was a biggie for me was the first time I jogged a full mile without having to take a walk break. I almost wanted to cry because the first time I ever tried to jog I couldn't make it past 60 seconds without having to walk and I couldn't believe I actually made it a for a whole 12 minutes (yup, that's how long it took me to jog that mile).

My first milestone was 10% of bodyweight.
The next was a 3fc one, the Easter challenge. That was to get to Onederland, and I made that a week early.
My next is 179 by June 14th - that's getting a little shaky now, 186 and under 3 weeks to go. I'm going on holiday on 06/14, and it will be very hot. I don't cope too well with the heat so want to be as low as possible. The last time I went to a traditional hot country I was 179 but on the way up (2005), and I remember at the time I was disappointed that I'd gained from the 136 I'd got to in 2004 but I felt I looked on the curvy side of normal and not molto grosso. So it will be a real boost if I can get there again.

My next target is 185.6 by June 22 (3fc summer solstice challenge) and
I'm in the July 4th challenge but I can't remember quite what I've pledged for then. Still got a ways to go, I think.

After June 14th, my aim is to maintain in Spain, although my secret target is to lose, even a fraction. That would really prove to me that I'm in control of what I eat, not just hiding from food. It would also mean I'd stood up to my Travelling Companion, who is a dear, dear friend but a bit of a steamroller when it comes to knowing best what I should be eating or drinking. I foresee the odd ruction there.

After July 4th, I haven't planned any more yet, although I do have a list in Mini-goals of all the tiny ones - % lost, stones lost, stone ranges reached and so on. I find tiny targets truly help, and being in 3fc challenges has been good for me too.

My minigoals list is not date specific in the main, that can be too much pressure; and the goals I set in the 3fc challenges are all very doable.

I have celebrated all of my mini-goals in increments of 20 lbs--I started at 263 lbs, so first mini-goal was 243 lbs, then 223 lbs, and so on. The only exception was my 3rd mini-goal, which I made 199 lbs instead of 203 lbs, cuz Onederland is such a huuuge milestone that I wanted to give it its own celebration! Hehe. And there's only a 13-lb difference between my fifth mini-goal and my GOAL-goal, but that's just because 113 lbs (the amount I wanted to lose) isn't equally divisible by 20. LOL!

I don't exactly remember why I chose to celebrate every 20 lbs... It just seemed like a good, solid number--it would be infrequent enough for them to feel *really* special, but I hoped they wouldn't be so spread out that it would feel like tons and tons of time elapsed between them. Either way, it worked out pretty well for me! Though when I got to 50 lbs lost, I also started making a new avatar to celebrate every 10-lb increment, so I guess that's another sort of mini-incentive that I look forward to... Such fun.

My next and most important mini goal is to get down to 238lb as I won't be morbidly obese then and it's the lowest weight I've managed to get to in the past since my first daughter was born nearly 10 years ago and most importantly for me it was the weight I was when I became pregnant 5 years ago, miscarried and ended up putting on 5 stones through comfort eating in a very short space of time. I will be very happy when all that weight is gone

Not thought that much about mini goals after that. I'll probably choose 224lb as my next one - 16 stones exactly - will feel I can do this then as I have always felt I can't lose pregnancy weight from my first daughter.

I have focused on 10% of my bodyweight at a time. This idea made sense to me, and there is good scientific proof that the loss of only 10% of your bodyweight has enormous health benefits. Because my overall goal seemed so large (94 lbs), this seemed easiser - and more rewarding. So far, I have lost 10% of my bodyweight three times (and closing in on the 4th!).

It looks like this:

Start: 228
First 10% (23 lbs) - 205
Second 10% (21 lbs) - 184
Third 10% (18 lbs) - 166
Fourth 10% (17 lbs) - 149
Fifth 10% (15 lbs) - 134

I will decide from there if I want to lose any more.

Peace, Heather

Right now I'm in Obesity Class III so:

Obesity Class II: 211 lbs
Onederland: 199 lbs
Half the weight lost: 190 lbs
Obesity class I: 184 lbs
100 lbs lost: 160 lbs
"Just" Overweight: 158 lbs.
Normal Weight: 132 lbs
Goal Weight: 120 lbs

Seems sooo far away...

-My 1st goal is to lose 10% of my body weight (243), which just so happens to coincide with my weight of when I became pregnant with my son.

-My 2nd goal is my pre-wedding weight (220). I am also hopefully that I will be able to fit into my all time favorite suite, and it stay on track that will allow me to wear it to a big speaking engagement I have scheduled in October.

-My 3rd goal (199) will put me out out of the 200's.

-My 4th goal is my (current) overall goal (170). That still leaves me in overweight category for my BMI, however, I have a very difficult time imagining myself much lower that that due to my bone structure. I'll see when I get there.

My first milestone was a WW one, that they automatically set for me as part of my weight loss - 5% of my body weight to bring me down to 242 pounds, which I have since met (despite gaining and losing the same block of weight a few times!).

My second goal is 10% of my original body weight, which brings me down to 231 and is under the weight I married at, under my husband's weight, and over a 25 pound loss!

Third milestone is 210, which is about the weight I was when I moved out of my Mom's and started college.

After that, Onederland!

My next milestone is further away at 160, which is the lightest I ever was as a full grown adult, back in highschool. I was still overweight for my BMI, but I looked GOOD!

Ultimate goal right now is 140 or under, and while I cannot see myself that light I am sure it is possible for me. I think this also puts me in range for a normal BMI at my height, though not 'ideal' (that would be around 115, which seems unlikely on my mesomorphic, heavy boned frame).

While those are my milestones, I do award myself with a new hairtoy or piece of jewelry at every ten pound increment, so I feel like I am moving toward something. But these are my sentimental milestones

The first goal I set was 10% of body weight, which I haven't reached but am slowly but steadily going down so feel pretty good about reaching it in a timely manner.

I also signed up for several of the 3FC weight-loss challenges and have done well with those. I am trying to be realistic based on my loss rate to date, yet at the same time making these real goals to strive for.

I have exercise goals also -- weight training 2x per week plus cardio at least 3x per week at ever increasing intensity.

I journal all my food every day, which has been a fabulous help to me.

I post on the "positive" thread every day which keeps me accountable. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170642

I have a class reunion July 31st of this year, and my goal is to be 249 for it.

Other goals in the future:
Onederland!
Less than my fiance's weight!
