DONT DO IT!!!!
Sometimes when i really want to eat something lovely, I have a teaspoon or 2 of peanut butter (the natural type) it might really help the snickers craving in your case. not great calorie wise, but way off level of a whole choccie bar.
But just say no to snickers, mind over matter in the cravings department, just think of that awful sinking feeling of guilt afterwards - just not worth it - sweet overprocessd chemical filled rubbish!!!

Years ago my doctor suggested to me to buy the small bite sized chocolate bars and keep them in the fridge. The serving is smaller and when they are cold you will eat them slower. It does work for me in terms of satisfying the urges, but you do have to have a pretty serious amount of self control to only take 1 when the urge hits.

Don't do it Peep Smith. You have too much to live for! Just look at your ticker, see how far you have come! Have some peanut butter and an apple, it works for me. Then go for a short walk, come home and read a book. Whatever you do stay away from the candy bar!

Well, i dont know which snickers type you like but a full size dark chocolate snickers is only 250 calories. I can usually manage one of those when a craving strikes.

I always talk myself out of junky cravings as follows:

Craving Amanda (We'll call her "CA" for short): Mmmmm, SNICKERS BAR!!!!!GIMME THE CANDY GIVE IT GIVE IT GIVE IT.

Sane Amanda (SA): Now, if I -really- wanted to spend 300 calories on a Snickers Bar, I could. But if I'm going to spend a fifth of my daily calories, don't I want it to be on the -best- and -most delicious- thing I can imagine?

CA: More delicious than a Snickers? I'm listening...

SA: If I really want to spend those calories, I should spend them on <insert delicious treat that is NOT (I REPEAT - NOT) immediately available, or will be for the next few hours, but is similarly decadent and delicious>.

CA: Mmmm! Said even-more-delicious treat sounds even better!

SA: If I still want that thing when I can get to it (again, you have to pick something not accessible...for me, this is usually a baked good from a local bakery, or it's something I have to buy ingredients for, bake, and cool), I'll have a small piece. If I ate the Snickers, I wouldn't be able to have that!

CA: OooOoooOoooOooh! I get the better thing, I get the better thing...

Cut to 4 hours later, when the craving is in the past and no longer worth the effort to get the "better" thing. And, if the craving DOESN'T pass, well, you're going to spend those 300 calories on something REALLY decadent and delicious, that ultimately is going to satisfy you WAY more than the Snickers bar.

In all seriousness, though, I approach cravings with a 3 step process.

1. Consider whether I'm thirsty/bored/over-hungry. I make myself wait a day on all "MUST HAVE IT RIGHT NOW" cravings to compensate for all of these.

2. Consider whether there is a healthier, lower-calorie alternative that will satisfy the craving (like a small cup of chocolate frozen yogurt with a tbsp of chopped peanuts on top, or a small organic peanut butter/dark chocolate peanut butter cup (Newman's Own makes them). Even if the calories are the same, I'll go with a healthier choice (less sugar, less HFCS, less trans fat) when possible because it reduces the chances I'll crave more and more after eating.

3. If all else fails, buy a single portion of the most delicious, most well-made, wonderful version of that item and enjoy it, then get right back on plan.

Oh, bless you all, and Amanda...you made me laugh soooo hard! GIVE IT GIVE IT GIVE IT...oh, still giggling.
Thank you, all, the craving has passed and I told a co-worker what was going on and she grabbed me and made me run an errand down the street with her. So not only did I not cave in, but I got a little walk in.
Love this place!
