So I'm heading home for a week. Back to the land of chocolate chiffon cakes, perogies, cabbage rolls, lemon pound cake and lasagne. Back to my parents' home, where for them, love equals an extra scoop of ice-cream on top of that home-made poppy seed cake. Where "have MORE" is a constant refrain. And where my poor food choice habits were first learned. And where, for some weird reason, I revert to becoming an 8-year-old again, in terms of dietary habit...
But THIS TIME, it WILL be different. I have to make the decision to do what I've never done before, and CONTROL MYSELF. I will make the best choices that I can and I WILL account for everything that I consume in accordance with my WW guidelines.
And I have rented a car (cheapest one out there!) so I can go to Hot Yoga every morning while I am there -- I'll take the $20 unlimited 1 week trial period at the studio.
So this is my plan. Oh, and to forgive myself my transgressions, and to weigh in and continue on my path once I return!
Maybe you could cook a few of the meals instead of your mom/dad? Tell them you want them to taste this wonderful recipe, thank them for whatever, etc. etc. that way at least you have a little more control over some of it.
There is a wonderful strawberry shortcake recipe that is only 2 points per slice that you could make and that way you have something that is less fattening as a dessert.
Good luck and let me know if you'd like the recipe.
Awesome idea! I'm going to try to worm my way into the kitchen to cook some great recipes. My mom is 82 this year, but still hates to relinquish control. So I'm going to take the approach that it is time that I did some of the cooking -- I'll make the oven-baked WW chicken, lots of veggies, and go from there!
Thanks!
Kira
When your Mom and Dad see you and how awesome you are looking, hopefully it will put them in refrain mode and they will not try to feed you. Good luck and stay strong. It would be hard to turn down Mom's cooking, but maybe as others said, you could offer up some healthy choices.

Just one comment...... Can I please come with you? It all sounds wonderful, actually! But I'm glad you have a good plan in place and I have no doubt that you will handle it very well.
Ohhh, good luck! You give such great advice and are so positive with your posts on here, you can absolutely do this! You're SO organised already with planning exercise before you even leave - so impressive!
Enjoy your time back at home with the folks - maybe you and your mum could cook something healthy and delicious together in the kitchen. Good luck and have fun, you'll do great!
