So I'd found this shop with wonderfull tops, all of which would fit me yesterday, and I came home to plan out my holiday wardrobe. I usually aim to try and get as many cominations as possible out of as few pieces as possible.
I had great fun, made little Wordart chunks in the right colours to drop into this grid I made. And then to decide what I still needed to buy:
After a double check back into the toosmall clothes cache, All I need now are 2 black t-shirts/camisoles. What? I wanted a shopping spree!!!!! but I've already got plenty clothes for 8 days. meh. meh.
Don't worry, before you know it your closet will be so full of the new , smaller sizes that you won't know what to wear. It happened to me. first I followed your plan but soon found I could not resist a good sale .
Save that money for your final goal wardrobe. If you are like me, you are going to need it! Like bargoo, sale racks just keep calling my name
And, since I will stay in this size for the rest of my life, I can buy good pieces that I love - things that will serve me well now, and in the years to come
sucks to have that problem lol! I've been fat for 12 years so I GAVE AWAY everything small! So I have very little to shrink into... it's costing me I tell ya!

I had also been heavy - for 20 years, saved no clothing and therefore I had no clothing to wear as I was getting smaller. Oh well. Having to buy new clothing was money very well spent. As I was shrinking, I bought a few new pieces every couple of months to keep me going. Always on sale. Amazing how much cheaper "regular" sized clothing is. I also discovered the tailor. Had some pieces taken in.
In fact, I loved one of my new skirts soooo much - a size 18 from Lane Bryant, that I had it taken in 4, times. And I am wearing it now to this day. I get so many compliments on it. People ask me where I got it from and I love to toy with them and tel them "Lane Bryant". And they're like, "huh? isn't that a large sized clothing store? How in the world are you still shopping there?"
Once I get beyond UK16, I'll be totally nekd and have to go shopping again. I have very, very little left in a UK14 or UK12, maybe a couple of things of historic interest!
I think I'll do what u suggest, Robin, and get at least one 'good' piece that I can get taken in. In big sizes, most of my clothes are just cheap stuff, it would be good to compliment my body with something classier!
Do consider 2nd had/consignment shops as you shop in smaller sizes. You can find some good quality/structured pieces that FIT for very little money. Like the others, I was overweight for so many years that I had absolutely no smaller clothes to fit into. Each 10 lbs. lost earned me a shopping trip. I came home with a bag of clothes that fit and looked fabulous for about $15. It did a lot for my self-esteem as I continued on my journey. Nothing like good-fitting clothes to ratchet up the compliments from others.
Like Robin, I have a few pieces that I loved so much that I altered them and still have them.
Just think, now you can look for fun stuff to buy on your vacation instead of clothes to take on vacation. I keep buying a few pieces here and there so I will have stuff to wear, mostly so I don't look like I'm wearing clown clothes, but I don't want to buy too much because I don't plan on wearing it very long. I will save the fun stuff for when I make goal.
