Question Question about sleeping after Surgery

The 1st week home does it help to sleep with your head elevated or is it possible to sleep flat? I'm debating if I should spend the money on a 12" foam wedge or not.

Thanks for any input

I was more comfortable with my head elevated, but I just used a bunch of pillows. By 2 weeks out, I was okay to use just 2 pillows.

I, too, slept in the recliner for a couple of weeks.

Put me down for the recliner. It was my best friend!

I used about 5 pillows so I was almost sitting all the way up when I first got home. I was in my recliner during the day, but at night, I just wanted to be in my own bed.

wow maybe I should start looking into getting a recliner

EDIT: I just called ARRON'S RTO and they said I could rent one as cheap as $60 a month and since I honestly have little room for one and will have to move a bunch of furniture to get it on place that seems to be my best bet.

For both my gastric bypass and tummy tuck, I spent the first two weeks on the recliner. Then I slept on the couch for a few days under about three pillows. When I moved to the bed, I slept up on three pillows with one small pill under each hip. When I'd turn to the side I'd be sort of up on a pillow on that side and always, no matter where I was, I had a pillow holding it against my stomach.
Good luck!

I highly recommend the long "husband" pillow. I saw KO's suggestion and used that my first night home and slept so nicely!

I used several pillows to prop myself up. Yes, the long husband pillow is a great option. I used several pillows to give the husband effect and that helped. At times I was also in the recliner, of course I realized that my butt was little big to sit in the recliner l0l. Basically sitting up helps.
