I am struggling to lose about 15 more pounds before I select my wedding dress - at least that is the plan

Thanks for the congrats Ruby. i'm sure we've all heard, "You'll find the man of your dreams when you least expect it -- when you're not loooking." Yada, yada, yada... Well, in my case that's exactly what happened.

Congrats to you too Emily!! Just five months away! Isin't it exciting?!!

Even though I'm presently living in the houston area, my wedding will take place in San Antonio, TX and My fiancé resides in Washington D.C. Talk about interesting....

Emily, based on the measurements you gave, you've done a fantastic job!!!! Congratulations!!!

What was your strategy?

Personally, I've begun to control my portions and that's been a great hurdle! I come from a family that eats deliciously, frequently, and has a romance with fatty foods.

I've done really well and am on my way to dropping at least 20 lbs. I wanted to set realistic goals and go step by step. Know what I mean?

Hope all is going great with your wedding planning. Are you pretty much set?

Actually - I am not getting engaged until March 2004 - so I still have 1 year and 5 months - I'll probably get the ball rolling here soon

One thing I've done that's been helpful (and I just started this recently and it has made a huge difference) is really paying attention to my calorie consumption. I have tried low-carb, no-carb, etc...but they didn't agree with my body at all. Now I know that all that matters is total daily calorie consumption.

In addition, I also belong to a gym and go about 5 days a week - I like to run and usually run 4-5 miles each time.

My family sounds very similar to yours with the way they eat - it seems family get-togethers are all about the food!!

It sounds like you are doing really well with your plan so far. Good luck with it and planning your wedding!!
