Hi Everyone,
I hope you all don't mind me jumping right on in. I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I'm Traci, I have 5 beautiful daughters, 19, 16, 12, 2 and soon to be 3 months. My pre-pregnancy weight was 229 and afterwards I was sitting at 240.. whats so horrible is after baby was born I went and put on another 19 lbs!!!
So, as of last Monday, I have 109 pounds to lose to reach my goal weight and I thought this would be a great place to make a few friends and get a bit of support.
My plan is to start off slow because I don't want to take on too much and end up getting discouraged and kicking this all to the curb (yet again). I'm sticking to 1600-1800 calories, tracking my food, drinking at least 64fl oz of water a day and trying to get in 30 minutes of exercise a day. I'm having a little difficulty with the exercise at the moment though, time is one thing I do not have alot of.
Well anyway, I look forward to getting to know you all and reaching our goals together!
Wow, Trazzie! Excellent introduction! You already sound like you are going to fit in here perfectly! Congratulations on deciding to make your health a big priority in your life --- I know how hard that can be for a mom --- and for taking those first crucial steps to better way of living.
You already have a plan for your eating and for getting that water down (great job!); it might take a little while to figure out a way to carve out that vital exercise time from your schedule. Not to worry! There are lots of people here who have been where you are and will share their war stories with you. With your attitude, you are going to find something that works!
I look forward to "seeing" you on the board! Welcome to 100+!
That doesn't sound like starting slow to me! Stick to that plan and you should see the weight shift.
Starting to exercise regularly can be really hard, and it's something I've really struggled with in the past. This time, I decided to make 30 minutes of exercise a day a lifelong commitment. I started with the bare minimum, walking mostly, just to get into the habit of making the time, and I've slowly increased the intensity, and now i do half an hour of moderate to high intensity exercise most days. And I feel better for it.
Hi there. 5 daughters? Wow. You are so fortunate. I've got three of them myself.
Sounds like you could definitely use some special time for yourself. If you can't carve out 30 minutes in a row for exercise, how about 15 minutes 2 times a day? Finding this time for yourself, getting down to a healthy weight, is the very best thing that you can do for yourself AND your wonderful family. Every one will benefit from Mom being her very best.
Glad to have you here. Looking forward to hearing lots more from you!
