Cool Making chili tonight!!!

My house smells fantastic... it's the first time I've made real (to me) Chili in forever!

My recipe:

Tammy's most awesomest chili

1 pound extra lean ground beef
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1/2 medium red onion, chopped
2 medium cans 6 bean blend, rinsed
1 medium can chickpeas, rinsed
1 large can tomato's
1 large can sodium free tomato sauce
2 small cans sodium free tomato paste

Add chili powder and extra cumin. Yummo!!!

259 calories per cup! And 24 grams of protein!!!

You should make this. I'll wait. lol!

Sounds sooo good.

I make chili all the time. In fact, I have plans to make it tomorrow. Mine is very similar to yours. I make it vegetarian though and use black beans. I happen to have a bunch of tomatoes that are overripe, so I'm going to broil them up and throw them in. Adds a nice touch. I also like to put some extra heat in there with a bit of cayenne pepper. It's a great make ahead dish that lasts a few days. I serve it either with Flour Tortillas or homemade pita chips.

bee optimistic, I just cook mine on top of the stove.

I love chili! We eat it vegetarian around here, too, and have it at least once a week. We also like the white bean chili.

That sounds great, and I can just smell it! I also make a vegetarian version with soy meat, black beans, and even protein powder. It is awesome. Hope yours if yummy!

Our recipes are very similar. I add ancho chili powder, vietnamese cinnamon & a small pinch of cocoa powder. No chickpeas, though.

What all beans are in the 6 bean blend?

I do it both ways. I always cook my ground chicken BEFORE putting it and the rest of the ingredients in though.

Last night I cooked it on the stove though. I do find that on the stove gives your spices a bit of a kick.

I put the cans in the recycling... but I *think* there was chickpeas, black eyed peas, lima beans, red kidney beans, white kidney beans and...I don't know the last one
