I'm home after being on the road for two days, attending DS's graduation from Nuclear Field "A" school (he's in the Navy) in South Carolina and driving him back home for some leave time. Eating on the road is always tough, but I made sure to track every single morsel that passed my lips...
and now I am 19.5 points in the hole (I do WW) and it's only Saturday. (I weigh in on Thursdays.)
I would be about even if I hadn't eaten the chef salad at Cracker Barrel. I looked up the nutrition info when I got home...
1153 calories 53 grams of fat (yes. FIFTY-THREE!) 15 grams of fiber
Oy vey. I'm okay, though. I will just ramp up the exercise and keep on keepin' on, and if I have a gain, I know where it came from!
I did the same thing one week. I was out of town for a party and didn't realize how many points I had eaten. I was shocked when I found out! There isn't much you can do, just try to eat filling low point foods for the rest of the week and try to workout every day. The workouts should add some activity points to offset the eating. Don't stress out too much about it, things happen... life happens.
Tell them to hold the cheese and dressing next time--also if they sprinkle on croutons or tortilla strips I have those held too. Yes, exactly--just keep on, keepin' on!
hey! My boyfriend and I lived in Charleston while he was in A school, power school, and prototype for the nuclear program too. small world. haha.. we are now stationed in GA.
When a restaurant takes what should be a low-fat, low-cal menu item like a salad and turns into a monster that competes with a whole apple pie, they should be absolutely required to put that nutritional info right on the menu. (Doesn't New York City have this law?)
Sorry you got ambushed by these deceptive PoundsOfFat, Jenelle, but kudos to you for just putting your hands on your hips, glaring back at that restaurant in the distance and racheting up your program to handle it. I can tell that if any of those "salad" pounds snuck into your car with you, you are just going to stomp their ugly little selves into the dust.
I had a similar experience at Panera Bread. I had the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 cup soup combo, and choose a turkey sandwich w/broccoli cheese soup.
I knew the soup was high in fat, but the turkey sandwich blew me away. A whole sandwich was something insane like 1150 calories. The 1/2 sandwich plus soup (350 calories) made my lunch come in at around 1000 calorie!
I about died when I saw the calorie count. I then resolved to check the nutrition information on the web BEFORE eating out from now on, or ask at the restaurant before ordering.
This made me think of a recent trip I took to New York City. Every chain/franchise type restaurant had the nutritional facts posted for EVERY item on the menu. Even billboards had calories. It wasn't just the stuff that want to advertise as healthy. We went to McDonalds one morning for breakfast and right under every single item was the nutrition info. I don't know if it's a NY thing or NYC thing. Anyone know?

That was WITHOUT dressing! I put fat free ranch on it myself.
O. M. G.!!! I hate it when that happens -- you are trying and counting, and think you are miking the right choice and then BLAMMO! It all goes to heck in a handbasket...
Don't worry about the 19.5 points in the hole that you are, as you have 35 flex points for the week. Just buckle down and get through it until your weigh in. If you've blown the flex points, TOO, then just suck it up, get on track, and accept that what's done is done. But you're clearly already doing that! So way to GO!

This is heartbreaking! I know fast food is bad, but it always blows me away how disgusting the food at seemingly nice restaurants is! I used to get the Macaroni grill Spaghetti and Meatballs often (granted, I would split it into two and have it for dinner then lunch the next day) but that is still over 2400 calories - my daily intake for TWO DAYS! I don't think I could possibly make regular spaghetti and meatballs at home with this many calories... what do they DO to it???
