Default "Thats Not My Weight"

Do you ever just look at the scale, or in my case, look at the ticker on here and think "Thats not my weight". Like how did I ever get here? I still have such a long way to go, but it all just amazes me. Everytime I look at that ticker, I think theres no way that can be my weight. Like I am looking at someone elses acomplishments. Almost like I am fooling myself. But reality is, I'm not. It really is my weight! Sometimes I just get like this where like its, I can't believe it's all happening. Starting this journey (that I refuse to call a diet) is the best thing I have ever done for myself, in my entire life.

There really was not much point in starting this thread, I just had to share lol.

Congrats on your loss, wow!!

Yes I do this every day but from a different angle from you. I have lost 99-ish lbs, which makes me very happy, but I really do think my weight on the scale is a very inaccurate reflection of my size and appearance. My scale jumps around in the 270s (or higher, depending on water retention/sodium intake) but I'm a size 18 bottom/0x-14-16 top. That makes no sense!

I sent a current pic of myself to a friend who is the same heighth as me, used to weigh 250 and currently weighs around 130. She refuses to believe I weigh 270. She says I look like I weigh around 200. It's because I've gained so much muscle mass, and muscle takes up a lot less space than fat.

So...all this to say, when I see 272 or whatever on the scale, I really believe "that's not my weight." It sure doesn't look like it, anyway.

Wow, DCHound, I am your height with similar high weight/goal weight as your friend -- yet you and I appear to wear the same size!

Anyway, I had a true "that's not my weight" moment this morning. I got on the scale and it said 184 lbs. My eyes popped out, then I realized it really wasn't my weight. Enjoyed the sight for an extra few seconds, then got off and checked the balance. Yep, it had shifted to -5 instead of all Zeros. So "that's not my weight" -- yep!

Congratulations!! I know; it's utterly insane that I weigh this much and wear this size. I am sitting here wearing a pair of size 20 jeans I bought in 1990 or thereabouts (no, I don't wear them in public! just for housework and yardwork!). When I was in my early 20s and weighed around 230-240 lbs I could juuuust squeeze into this pair of jeans. I'm 39, I weigh @ 270 and I have to keep pulling them up because they are falling down! ??????? I ain't complaining though!

Ugh...I weigh 224 and am comfortably wearing size 22 jeans! It's super frustrating! When I weighed 188 pounds I was still in a size 18!

Now, I must say that I have a "tiny" waist and wide hips and big thighs, and a relatively "flat" stomach and am about a size 14 on top right now. But still!

To the OP: You are doing so great! Keep it up. I hope to be where you are in a few months. You are inspirational!!!

Xome..first off, congratulations on your amazing success...I find this true with the scale number and with sizes of clothing...I bought shorts yesterday and looked three or four times at them and thought---"nah, I can't wear these"...so I try them and yep, they fit nicely...I know I really need to get over it already..I feel pretty friggin' vain on some days....yesterday when I was running I was feeling my thighs with my hand as I ran--to feel the muscles...and I guess it is just pretty weird...I have been saddled with my big thighs darn near my entire life and now I feel muscles coming through....Surreal.

I feel that way too! I remember first putting my ticker up and being so excited seeing it starting to move, now I'm really excited by how far it has gone. I feel the same way when I grab a pair of pants to try on and think "there's no way they are going to fit!" and then I pull them on.

so you mean the thighs will eventually get smaller? Thats been the most frustrating thing to me during this all is I still have the biggest thunder thighs ever! There never going to get smaller. I bought a pair of PJ shorts yesterday, and they fit great, except around the leg there a little tight. There annoying, uncomfortable, and obviously embarassing.

Yes you will eventually lose weight in your legs. My legs are simply enormous but I have lost some weight there, and will continue to do so. Just takes a while.

My thighs have been very, very stubborn. They now measure 21" and still bigger than I hoped for but so much better than they were. They are absolutely the very last frontier on my body. Slow, yes. But they do eventually go down.
