I just started the momentum plan. I when to the meeting, got my information and purchased a starter kit. Everybody was kinda looking at me like "why are you here".
I'm 45 years old, 5 feet exactly and I weight 119 pounds. I want to learn how to balance out what I eat in terms of making healthy choices and better portion control. Weight Watchers, to me has a wealth of knowledge that I want to learn and incorporate into my diet on a permanent basis. My points are 18 per day.
I'm hoping I will see a weight loss of about 9 to 10 pounds - thats it! Then do maintainence after that. I don't know how successful I will be since I only have like 10 pounds to lost?
Does anybody know someone with stats similar to mine that has lost weight at the lower end of the point scale
Thanks for your help!

My sister is 5'1" and joined Weight Watcher's after her second son was born, to lose her pregnancy weight. She had 12 lb to lose, I believe - and she did great. I don't remember exactly how long it took her, but she lost fairly quickly for having so little to lose.
thanks kaplods! Two of the friends who have lost weight doing WW (one lost 54 pds and the other lost 47 pds) thought I was crazy for joining or that I didn't need to join. So I'm kinda doing this and not letting them know, therefore I can't talk to them or get any advice about the program from them.
I think if you go to the Featherweights forum you might find many people on your situation that would be able to help:
Good luck!!!

belezura - thanks! I checked out the featherweights but its not specific to Weight Watchers. It seems like its posts on different types of weight loss programs for people who need to lose 10 or 20 pounds. It would be great if there was a specific featherweight thread for WW participants.

My best friend just joined WW she is 5'2 and 119 pounds, she JUST makes the requirement to join WW. She also wanted to lose 10 pounds and learn how to eat correctly.

That's great, I'm glad I'm not alone.
I was starting to feel like I didn't "qualify" to join Weight Watchers. I'm sooo glad I was able to join up because its a very informative and educational process.

We thought my sister was a little crazy too, because Weight Watcher's is not cheap (she was also studying to be a dietitian and was far enough in her coursework to have more knowledge of nutrition than the average WW leader), but on the plus side, she acheived "lifetime" status in a very short time.
I think when a person has a lot to lose (especially if like me, you've been obese nearly all of your life) it can be hard to understand the plight of the featherweights. I can't even imagine worrying about 10 lbs (maybe I'll understand it someday), but don't let that discourage you, or make you feel you don't have a right to any helpful resources.

I can understand that, but believe me I'm just as anxious as if I had 70 pounds to lose. I'm very short and 10 pounds looks like 20 on me. If I okay with "10" then the next thing you know I have to lose "20" instead of "10". It like getting it under control before my weight continues to shoot up. I use to be 145 pounds but dropped 30 pounds and I have maintained my weight for 4 years now. However, after turning 45 last year, by weight is up by 5 pounds and its total plateau mode right now. I would like to lose 10 but 115 is where I have been for the last 4 years so thats okay too!

This is so true.
When I was 160ish, wanting to be 130ish, my larger friends didn't understand my point of view.
Well. After I had my baby, I was 225. During my pregnancy I adopted the "pounds don't matter" point of view, and that's where it got me. In the 200's (I'm only 5'3) and very unhappy and unhealthy.
Maybe if I'd reached my goal before getting pregnant, I would have learned the princples behind weight loss and maintenance, and not gained so much.
You know, at some point we will all have "only 10 pounds to lose". So you just happen to be closer to your goal that some others. SO, please feel free to join in and post and get advice! We all have 10 lbs to lose so we all have the same experiences and the same difficulties. Please don't feel like you don't "belong" here on the WW threads. You are MOST WELCOME!
