Default Prayer requests for my dog

i am not sure where to post this as I have only been a member of 3FC for a couple wekks but my German Shepherd, Patience is at the Animal Hospital tonight. She is in surgery as I am writing this. We are not sure what is wrong yet but her stomach is bloated really big and nothing is moving. They need to do surgery to clean it out so it doesn't rupture. There is a possible twist but it could be something else since she has had intestinal problems for most her life. She is nine and is our baby. We love her so much. I will update more latter but want to get some prayers sent her way. She is a true gift from God and I hope that she can stay a little longer!

Sending thoughts your way from me, a Labrachow, and love from the German Shepard I grew up with (the perfect, sneaky sly older sister).

Thank you so much everyone. We really needed good thoughts and prayers coming our way.

Patience got thru surgery just fine. Upon opening her up they found an abrasion on her small intestines which was caught in a twisted position which resulted in her intestines coming to almost a stop. The her stomach filled with gas, etc and became distended. They removed the abrasion and toke out her uteris while they were in there (we never got her spayed and due to her health problems we were afraid to put her thru surgery - we wanted to but were too afraid). The vet called again this morning and he said she was doing great! They were going to start feeding her a little and giving her water and they think she will be home tomorrow!!!

Patience has had a very long GI problem history. About six years ago she got very sick with vomit and diarhea. The vet thought something was obstruting the entrance of the small intestines from her stomach so he did surgery. They found she had a bad bacterial infection thru out her GI tract. The abrasion removed last night was a result of that surgery. The vet and surgeon strongly felt that the past six years of GI problems were a result of that abrasion.

Over the last six years we have done tests and have struggled thru these episodes. It was scary and hard but she always came back 120%. the dog has a heart of Gold. I call her my angel because she brings me peace and happiness everyday no matter what. I still worry about some underlining cause because of the initial sickness. It could have been a fluke though. Just something she ate that got her sick. One of the main reasons we opted for surgery last night was because they were going to do some biopsy's to see if their is anything further going on. Hopefully those will reveal any hidden secrets!

Hopefully she will be home tomorrow and things will go back to better then they were before. I am just so relieved that his turned out so well.

Thank you!!!!

Default Doggie luv

Glad to hear your pup made it through ok. Nothing like doggie luv is there? We have a 12 yr old lasa apso with heart trouble. These days he is living on borrowed time. In Dec he was so ill the vet didn't think he would live till Jan.
Zack bounced right back to being the lovable little guy he always was. We have a vet plan in place incase we have any medical issues in the middle of the night. We are thankful and scared all at the same time. We know at 12yrs old we are lucky he is still here, but, how do you ever prepare yourself for a pets death? We take each day with him as a blessing and enjoy him all we can. The vet says now we may get 2-4 yrs with Zack. I will take it!!
