Hello all, I'm sorta new. Signed up to 3 chicks some time back, but haven't been watching the community. But I just started back on the weight loss road a few days ago, so I thought it would help to attack it from every angle possible.
I'm Jo, age 24, and I currently weight 270. I've tried dieting time and again, of course, but always fell off the wagon. I've been bobbing back and forth between 250 and 280 for two years now.
This time, the reason to start a diet wasn't for weight loss, but for budget reasons. Junk food and eating out was draining my money something awful. That led me to try counting how much money I "ate" each day, which led me to think about dieting again.
Another reason is fitness... I used to dance in high school, and miss it terribly. Heck, I miss being able to keep up with my friends. They love playing laser tag, but I can't make it through a whole 7 minute game without needing a time out.
So, I'm tackling this thing from three directions. Counting my calories, counting my pennies, and counting the miles I walk and the scoops of protein shake I chug down each day (yergh, don't think I'll ever get used to that nasty stuff).
So everyone, nice to meet you all, and here's putting my best foot forward.

Hi and best of luck!! I just wanted to give you some advice on protein shakes. Buy a Vanilla one and add 1/2 a frozen banana (and or frozen berries) and skim milk...it is really yummy like that. I found the chocolate/strawberry or any other flavour left a bad tast in my mouth.
Sounds like you're well on your way, with your multi-faceted approach!
Re protein shakes - see if you can find single-serving packets, so you can try different brands/flavors until you find one you like. I'll second the advice re frozen banana/berries. Other good add-ins are almond butter, espresso powder, cocoa powder or cherries. If you like it really thick, try using strained yogurt instead of milk. I had something called a "creamsicle" at my brother's gym in Vegas - vanilla protein powder, yogurt and orange juice - YUMMY!
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I've been looking around this forum, and it looks to be very closeknit and friendly. I'm sure I'll enjoy being here!
Thanks also for the advice about protein shakes, I'll be sure and try it out!
