Question Please tell me what you truly know about Belly Fat

I have heard you can not isolate where the weight comes from. I believe this. But I've also heard that certain types of food do contribute to belly weight.

Since my C-section - and hitting menopause in my 30's - I have belly fat that I detest...So please tell me what you honestly know about belly fat - is it no flour? no sugar? no starch? Is there really a type of food that just hits your belly and never leaves?

I did sit ups at the gym the other day and told the trainer, "Gosh I didn't know there were any muscles under all that"....he gave me a sympathetic smile and he said, "There's not, you need to rebuild them." I think he was talking mostly about having had a Csection, but still made me feel like crap. Like I need any help in that dept.

For a few years I started drinking alcoholic beverages quite heavily (4-6 drinks a/day 4-6 times a week). During this time I gained 100+ pounds. My belly fat increased like you would not believe. Since I have stopped drinking alcoholic beverages I have lost 20 inches from my waist, (at my belly button), and have lost a lot of weight. Could be just a coincident. Do you drink daily?

S/C/G: Lost 50 lbs, regained some

Belly fat... I have it and I've always had it. Even when I was a teenager at 120 pounds, I had some belly fat. It's just where I gain! I used to drink alcohol as well, and that might have had something to do with it back then, but I stopped drinking over 20 years ago and still had my belly fat.

It did shrink as I lost weight. But I expect I'll always have some.

I do believe that there is something to the "Flat Belly Diet". I do think adding MUFAs daily really did help me reshape my post-menopausal body.

Core exercise certainly didn't hurt ehither

There ARE muscles under there!! Everyone has them. They may not be toned as much as you would like and they may have too much soft tissue over them to be visible, but they ARE there!! Sheesh.

When I eat a lot of carbs (grains) I KNOW my belly swells. Of course, I am wheat (and dairy) intolerant, so that may be part of why. But I KNOW this, for certain.

MUFA is shorthand for monounsaturated fatty acids (good fats) found in:
1. Oils
2. Nuts & Seeds
3. Avocado
4. Olives
5. Chocolate

never have them even at 115 lbs (or at least they didn't show up - only fat showed up).
Until recently when I start to exercise, doing sit ups and abs exercise, I can see that I gained muscles (or that now the fat is slowly disappear and so the muscle under it appear). Whatever.

But I used to have trouble with E.D (not eat at all) - so that could also relate to the muscle and stuff.
