Well the daily weighing thing got me. I know I shouldnt have, but I was on a roll and couldnt stop weighing everyday. Heres what happened:
I was losing like a pound every day there for like a week. Then the day before yesterday I weighed in the morning and it was up two pounds. Ok, maybe its water weight. So later in the day I weighed again and it was UP FOUR POUNDS!!! So this morning it was back down two pounds, but I am so frustrated and I know better than to weigh every day! Now I am obsessing over it and am mad! I need a sledghammer!
I am scaled obsessed as well. You must try NOT to weigh yourself every day! It's just bad, and the devil sits on that scale WAITING for you! LOL
Weigh in once a week! Hard? ABSOLUTELY! Don't let the devil talk you into getting on that scale! Hide it if you have to! It will only discourage you and make you nuts!
I weigh myself every day but I accept the ups and downs. A few weeks ago, my weight was the same for a week, then dropped 2 lbs, then the day after the 2 lb drop, it went back up 2 lbs, stayed that way for a week, then dropped 5 lbs. Weight is funny.
A week and a half of constant weighing got to me too. Up down up down up down. Even doing it in the morning on an empty stomach there's so many fluctuations that I've given up and will just do the once a week weigh-in!
I think we all go through the "I'll weigh my self every day!" thing when we start!

I disagree. I actually think it's good. But we are all different. I think weighing is a great way to stay in tune with your body. I also think it's a great way to keep your goals in sight and to be aware that everything you put (& don't put) in your mouth has consequence, both good and bad. I have to learned to recognize those fluctuations and deal with them.
Mug, you're doing great. Keep on going. Just keep at it. Sticking with your plan will result in weight loss. Although it's not always steady.
Not poo-pooing the sledge hammer idea at all...........in fact I think it is a better choice than what I did.
Life Lesson #2352234 Never kick the scale when you don't get the results you anticipated. Broken toes take a long time to heal, especially when you break two of them at a time!
I do weigh myself most days, mainly because it's in the bathroom and it's habit haha. I don't usually get too discouraged my it though because one day I'll weigh naked in the am, the next wearing sweats at 5pm after working out. i kind of think it helps me stay on track because i really don't want to overeat or whatever because i don't want to see the numbers go up. it's all relative so if you can keep from obsessing- who cares? but if you find it's bringing you down when you see the numbers you might want to get it off the floor for a few days.

Everyone is different so you have to do what works for you. I find that weighing every day took the shock out of it. I don't freak out over the ups and downs now. I was surprised by how many things effect my weight, water, pms, ovulation and so on. The downward trend is what is important. I need accountability, for many years the only time I weighed was at the Dr's office. Ignorance is bliss until it's all over your backside!
I weigh every single day... knowing there are going to be normal fluctuations. You need to do what works for you though and sledgehammers are not the scales friend Scales are expensive. lol!
Maybe it would help to take some time to remember all the other ways you know that this is working for you --- better fitting clothes, no gasping on the stairs, more energy, etc. The dang numbers can be so fickle and so frustrating, but you know that if you stick to your plan, those pounds WILL come off. Physics and biology can not be denied.
And if that doesn't work, we will send Lottie and RedFlame to your house with great big butterfly nets to capture the elusive FatPounds and release them back into the wild....
I've pounded the scale before too...actually just stomped the heck out of it. Broke it and had to buy a new one...lol
Thankfully I have gotten over my scale obsession this time around. I just decided that this time I was going to do everything different than in *my* personal past failed "diets". So I weight once a week, on Friday morning and for the last 52 or so weeks I've only been disappointed maybe 3 or 4 times. Pretty decent odds. NOW, when I get to maintenance, I'll probably have to weigh more often, (twice a week?) until I get the hang of things better.
I just can't mentally go back to my scale addiction. Drove me insane.
Been there done that! The feelings anyway but like others said I take the ups and downs as well, it's a natural thing. I weigh only once first thing in the morning after I pee and before I shower, naked of course and use that weight. It gives me a base to see how my week it going.
