is going 50-100 calories over going to slow weight loss?
Hmm... I usually keep my caloric intake between 1,200-1,300 calories. (And yes I count every day and use measuring cups. I also exercise 6 days a week.)
For dessert last night and this evening, I think I went 50-100 calories over each night since I admit, I didn't skim dessert off at the top with a knife as I usually do but left a bit more on. It was just one of those rare delish desserts you don't want to end
That doesn't blow my entire effort for this week to try to lose weight is it?
(**I didn't like had an extra cup or even a half a cup of cool whip piled onto the first cup I measured out, for example.)
Even writing this I sound stupid and paranoid. They do say on this forum, you should increase your caloric intake sometimes to shake up your body's routine here.
I'm still hoping I can lose some pounds when I weigh in soon.

3500 calories is equivalent to one pound of fat (there are some metabolic variables, but worst case scenario 3500 calories can equal no more than one pound of fat). So that means that you will have decreased your weight loss by about 1/17 to 1/35 of a lb (roughly, you can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 ounce less than you would have if you had not eaten those 50 to 100 calories those two nights).
So are you worried about an ounce (your scale won't even pick up the difference, unless you've got a very unusual scale)?
Tea, I don't think it matters a bit. But curious here - you've lost so much weight already, have done a STUPENDOUS job. How did you do it to this point? Do you trust your methods yet?
I trust my methods, I just never have gotten this thin before (180s) and I'm trying my best despite some weeks lately where I lose very little or not at all. I've even gained one week recently due to TOM.
I'm nervous because I want to keep going and every little setback or slowdown makes me doubt my efforts long term to get to my goal of 125 lbs

Ah, I see! I've experienced so many little gains and stalls that it tends not to worry me (too much) anymore. You've really lucked out with pretty steady weight loss then!
Don't worry, you have come so very far and will achieve what you're going for. I understand about being nervous, I really do - but 50-100 calories isn't a big deal, especially considering how careful you sound about your intake.
Do you exercise currently? I don't believe in punishing oneself for little discrepancies, but a little extra calorie burn never hurts.
A lot of people, including myself, calorie cycle - which helps aid with weight loss and worries like you're having. With cycling, there's no guilt associated with a slightly higher day.
Relax! 50-100 calories isn't going to make much of a difference long-term. Just don't let it slip to 200-300 on a regular basis and you'll be just fine.
I don't think that 100 calories is going to make a difference at all. But time will tell for sure. If it does and you have a stall and truth is, you will never know for sure if it was indeed the extra hundred calories that did it, you can always re-evaluate.
I do agree with Amanda though, make sure it doesn't turn into more.
I think you're too focused and oh so very determined (a good thing!) to allow yourself to let this happen though.
I always enjoy hearing from you guys! I know I shouldn't flip, but sometimes I just have a low point and feel better just posting my worries - however trivial they may appear - on 3fatchicks.com!
It's a lot better than eating
Nah, I'm usually VERY good - almost freakish - on calorie counting. I just had tonight and last night that I know I most likely went over by 50 or 100 calories.
Thanks SO much for responding, I appreciate it (as well as kaplods & FB)!!!!

Oh I agree with you and UNDERSTAND. Your commitment is inspirational. You keep posting away (and counting away too). We're all looking forward to that "hit goal" post down the road. We all know it's coming.
i agree with mandalinn- i was going to say 50-100 shouldnt affect you as long as you don't let thet 100 be the norm, then tack on another 100 after that... then another 50 after that... all on a regular basis. i doubt that you would though- over 100lbs gone i doubt you would let yourself get off track long enough to cause damage
How come you are eating so few calories? I know that wasn't really the point of this post but I'm just curious. I was eating that many calories and now I'm trying to up them because I'm not losing anymore.
ugh i have a lot to learn about this calorie process.. how do u lose weight by upping the calories lol. i have been trying to read all about calories and how they work, but being so new to it i get confused ALOT!!!! lol

Well, I personally DON"T lose weight by upping my calories. I lose weight by decreasing them and creating a calorie deficit. That's what has worked for m. Each and every time I up them, I gain weight. Each and every time I decrease them, I lose weight. Without fail.
We've got a Calorie Counter's forum here at 3FC. Head on over and take a look. You'll get the hang of it. You can also check out fitday.com or thedailyplate.com for calorie counting info.

If you're referring to my post, I'm upping my calories from 1200 to around 1500 because my weightloss has pretty much stopped. I believe that I'm eating too few calories for my body, thus making my body want to hold onto what weight I do have. I'm hoping, if I up my calories to a more reasonable amount, my body will respond by letting go some of that fat because it realises it's no longer starving. KWIM?
