I've had eye twitches on and off since 7th grade (the first time was in a very stressful academic team match - I was, indeed, a nerd ). That's been almost 20 years, and every once in a while - a couple of times a year - the twitches come back. They're not debilitating or painful or terrible, but they are distracting and annoying.

I feel like the past week my eye has been twitching more than normal. Looking on various medical sites, I haven't found much info. Causes could be stress, caffeine, or lack of sleep. I'm getting plenty of sleep, am maybe a little more stressed than normal, but nothing huge, and am consuming my normal amount of caffeine.

Any thoughts? Any one else had twitches and found something that helped? I'm going to cut back on caffeine starting tomorrow, and see what that does.

My left eye has been twitching a lot lately. Now that I think about it, I haven't had any pop in a week and it hasn't been twitching so much.

It could be nerve damage.

That happens to me sometimes too, usually due to stress. I think its called muscle fasciculation....might wanna google that!

have you been reading a lot or on the computer more then usual? eye strain perhaps?

wow! finally someone with the same annoying problem as me! It started 10 months ago when I had my daughter and was under some serious stress and just never went away! It's irritating and a bit embarrasssing for me, sometimes I try to massage the muscle and it kind of helps...

i read into this, because i developed this myself several years back. its a common thing for women especially during middle age. it usually runs along the vagus nerve down one side of your face. mine seems to be much more active when im stressed. i can also go months without it. when it choses to return is always funny to me because it will likely be work or husband related. lol. it can twitch so bad that people remark on it.

My eye will start twitching when I'm stressed...even the little stresses in life. I just take it as a hint to try and relax.

My right eye twitches like that when I have been at the computer a long time (typically at work, so could be eyestrain could be stress ) or when my seasonal allergies really start to hit. Warm towel on my eye for a few minutes often calms it down.

OMG sometimes it drives me craze! My right eye will start twitching and I look like Im winking. Usually only lasts a few minutes, Im glad it's not just me.

My left eye twitched on and off for years. Then I started feeling pressure below the left eye, which really bothered me. The pressure in my sinuses were causing the eye twitching and pressure. I started taking allergy medicine and it got a lot better.
