Lightbulb inspiration

I found this quote the other day and jotted it down. I thought you all would like it, as an inspiration.

Victory is not won in miles, but in inches. Win a little now, hold your ground, and later win a little more.
Louis L'Amour

nice, huh?? makes me think of my weight loss journey. I started in Jan 2001. I lost 30 and kept it off atleast 6 months or so and then started to lose more for a total of 37 last year. I maintained for months after that and then started losing more. It's not quick like I have done before but hopefully this time it will be for keeps!!

I really like the quote. I've only been moving in "inches" not trying for the big weight loss. This week I'll be glad if I can "hold my ground".

But I've been pleased with what I've lost so far - 15 lbs or so. Usually I'd go on a diet strictly (Atkins, Carbo. Addict, Diet Workshop, whatever) and manage to lose the same 15 lbs quickly enough but then I'd get bummed out and blow it. This time the 15 has been slower but I'm not bummed out and feel like I just want to try to continue eating for health and that I can do that for a much longer time. Well, it's been longer already and I'm not ready to quit.

Angry hi anagram!

I am glad you liked it. I felt it kind of relates to the "battle" of losing weight. I can totally relate to what you've said. I have lost 10 or so pounds quickly, feel good and then just gain it all back.
I have even lost 40-50 pounds three times over the past 10 years and always gained it back cause I lost it so fast (starving myself) and then gain it back almost as fast as it came off. This time I have really taken my time. I dont get as many compliments like when I crashed it off in the past. I think it kind of sneaks up on people. Some will say "have you lost weight??" because they arent so sure do to losing it so slow. That's ok with me, I dont want people to remember how BIG I was!!

happy friday!
