2 days on Medifast having problems: Help!
I went to my nutritionist and she recommended the Medifast plan . I ordered a month supply of the Variety pack and have started the plan 2 days ago. I'm noticing that I only like certain soups and the bars. I want to do good on this. But I find myself cheating a little.
I have at lest 50 pounds to loose. Any advice. I email my nutionist and asked if I can have maybe real oatmeal instead of the Medifast one, I'm still waiting for her response. Has anyone had this problem?

nogames-I like to add some splenda and cinnamon to the oatmeal and I really like it...Some people make cookies or muffins out of it.
There are tons of recipes and ideas in the sticky at the top of this forum for those who like to cook and mix it up a little. There are also some recipes on the Medifast websiite.

DJAY,
Do you think I can just get by with certain soups and bars? I'm really not the mixing type and I tried sugar with the oatmeal and I'm still not liking it. But I'm not giving up. I do want to lose weight.

nogames...you can definatly pick and choose which meals you like and just stick to those...That is one thing I like about Medifast. Lots of options and yet so structured.
You are not alone. Alot of people don't like the oatmeal. Substituting regular oatmeal doesn't work well since it is not fortified to work with the program...but substituting a Medifast meal that you do like is perfectly acceptable!

Djay,
I might just do that, because I do like the bars and some soups I can drink the "All ready made shakes". I'm goin to call them today and see if I can just order the shakes and the stuff I do like. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Actually, the new bars, you can have TWO per day. WOO HOO!
I, too, did not appreciate the "oatmeal". No prob! - I just sent those boxes back & traded them for more Tomato & Chicken Noodle soups! - I love the shakes, most soups, & the bars. But none of the oatmeals made me gleeful.... blech! But that's the good thing about MF! - it's all pretty much interchangeable.

That was true of the old bars...The new crunch bars are completly interchangable. Some of them are very good!

Well in my case I have been on the program for the 3rd day and there must be something in this stuff that doesn't like me as I have had pains in my stomach the whole time and I can't leave the bathroom. I only ordered a few things to try it for a week and boy am I glad I did that as this is not for me. Good luck everyone but I am heading back to WW which is what I used to lose the first 90 pounds.

Amanda,
Some people do have a problem with soy. I'm sorry the program didn't work out for you...but You have had so much success so far...I am confident that you can continue to goal. Weight Watchers is a fantastic program. I plan on using it for maintenance.
BTW...Check out Medifast return policy...You can probably return most of what you ordered for a full refund.
Good Luck to you!
DJ

You can use the NEW bars for all 5 meals if you want. That is why they made them...because of the restriction to 1/day.
Oatmeal.....add 1/2 tsp baking powder, mix, then add 2 TBS Eggbeaters and water for right consistency. This makes a really good pancake. I use Waldenfarms 0 cal/carb pancake syrup. It is really good.
Yes, if you have 6 of 7 left in a box of something you don't like, they will take them back for a full refund. Not sure about shipping.

It is probably the soy. A lot of people can't tolerate it. The soy never bothered me so I was lucky. Weight Watchers is a GREAT plan and I intend to follow that in maintenance. Good Luck to you!!!!!

Be careful with the sugar, it will kick you out of ketosis which is the basis of Medifast. Ketosis keeps you in the fat burning state. It takes 3-5 days to get into ketosis Every time you kick yourself out of ketosis you will go through the withrawals again like headaches, shaky, etc...My best advice is to follow the plan as written, it does work.
