Morning everyone! Much to my childrens delight, we woke up to a couple inches of snow this morning. Somehow that always makes Christmas more real to me.

Let's have a good week everyone!

ok..be back later. hope everyone has a good day.

Well, since we're talking weather today - last week I got to drag out some jackets because it was ccccold for us here in Texas. Today is a no jacket day again, probably about 70 this morning when we left the house... but hearing everyone talk about snow makes me jealous, I remember those feelings of being nice and toasty inside and watching it snow outside I don't know why I get jealous, I would NOT like to live in snow again!

Good morning friends.

Well, I finally started my outdoor decorations yesterday.......which lead me to guy buy 50 dollars more in lights...........which seems to happen every year. I think I threw a bunch of stuff out last year.......either that, or there is a big box of fun hiding somewhere. Last year, I had this adorable snowman, and someone took his head off..........for real.........so I did have to go get a new one. Of course, they didn't have the same one...and I don't love my new one, but it is ok.

It is colder here than usual also, but I don't think we are supposed to get any snow. I know the kids would be in heaven if we did

Well, DH has left me again..........today for Detroit. Luckily he will be home tomorrow around noon, so it's short and sweet this time. Thank goodness for that.

Kids are driving me crazy. What else is new, right? I will beable to post photos again soon. My digital camera broke a few months ago.....but I just bought a new one on ebay....so hopefully that will come soon.

I am thinking of a puppy for Christmas..........but I have already shopped for the kids.....so I will have to wait and see if I have enough $$$$. I am thinking of a Yorkie or a Maltese. We'll see.

Ok, sorry for my rambling...........and thanks for letting me clear my head......once again
XOXO

I am freezing! our furnace.....water pump??? thingy..... whatever.... broke a year ago. it freezes up and just turns into a large ice block when ever used. we have to fire places and one wood burning stove, plus the other furnace in the Master suite. so we limped along with that last year. but man it is freaking cold in here today. 51 degrees outside, 60 degrees in the house. I think I am going to lock myself in my bedroom!

I am inching dangerously close to the 170s I can almost taste it!!! I am hoping by the end of this week.

Oh, and on the diet front, I made a boo boo that I'm sure will haunt me this week... We watched the De La Hoya fight this weekend and although I saved up and didn't really eat during the day so that I could have some snacks in the evening, the snacking got way out of control and then, being hung over and extremely exhausted the next morning, I took my oldest DS to an ALL DAY indoor soccer tournament, I was afraid to eat because I didn't want to lose it. I finally did get a subway veggie max sandwich in the afternoon, but when I got home I took a nap and when I awoke*** magically*** there was a mcdonalds hamburger was waiting on the counter and no one was going to eat it... so I did and followed it with some left over hot wings. Anyway, this is the first time since starting this journey that I messed up 2 days in a row... and I just needed to confess and get it off my chest, I feel better now and I just need to get right back on, its a new day

Default new here!

I'm new to this site and I feel like this is a safe place to vent.

I wish my counsellers were nicer and got more excited when I lost weight. 3 visits I've lost 6.6, 3.2 and 3.4lbs and never once have they made a big deal about it.

Sometimes I wish they would fake it

Julie, My DH does those occasional sabotage things.... as soon as he was happy with my weight, there would be magically appearing junk food in the house. Hey life goes on, and there are going to be times when you just go ahead and have the hamburger.... so don't beat yourself up too bad about it. Get back on plan. See if you can fit in a bit more exercise this week to help balance it out..... helps me think twice about eating it, if I think about how hard I'm going to have to work to burn it off...

Lettie, Stay warm! that does not sound comfortable. Hopefully someone can fix your furnance soon.... Hope the scale finds the 170's soon. You've got to be burning of some extra calories there in the cold.

Nicole, do you put up a lot of lights? We have a minimal amount of lights up. I keep thinking I should go and buy something fun, but I went to target and was surprised that they cost that much. I miss having a dog too, but seeing my sister trying to deal with her puppy is enough to make me think again. I forgot how much work they are to train and civilize.

I had a fairly good weekend food wise. Did a bit of shopping and decorating for Christmas, so now I feel a bit less stressed. This year I'm trying for the really simple Christmas, just the minimum gifts, just a few decorations, just taking it easy and trying to just enjoy the people and the season instead of making myself all crazy with stress over all that HAS to be done.

Whoohooo Lettie!

BarbarbA- That is my plan this year too. I put up a tree and a yule log, and some fresh greens on the front door. That is all I have planned to decorate this year. Also, I have gotten pretty basic on gifts too. I am tired of so much commercialism and waste. Instead of basing my kids Christmas equalling the amount of gifts they get, (Like 10 each or something) I put myself on a dollar amount budget instead. My son wanted an electric guitar, so obviously he has less gifts than my girls. I am already done shopping, and that is a really good feeling.

Question: How do you all handle the Santa thing? How many gifts are from Santa, how many are from you, etc.

Mikkim - all of us have expressed this at one time or another. I really don't have a good excuse as to why they don't make you feel better about it... BUT, that's what we are here for - Those are great numbers! You are doing really well, keep it up. And, feel free to vent, or just pop in and say hi or whatever here!

On the getting excited front - do you old timers remember the WOO HOO stick? Be careful what you ask for Mikkim - one couselor of mine used to scream WOO HOO and wave this stick around when anyone had a loss. I came close to being arrested for assault when I tried to tackle said counselor to shut her up.

So, you all have no IDEA how painful it is for me to type right now. Every muscle in my body hurts. My hair looks like a rats nest because I cannot get my arms over my head to comb it. As you may recall - I joined a gym last week and prompltly took a Bootcamp class, and had a training session yesterday. The good news is I can not raise any food to my mouth, so I've got that working for me.

Have a good day all!

And Nicole - I vote for the Maltese!

Welcome Mikkim! This has been a great support group for me through this process - I wasn't really looking for a discussion board when I searched for "LA Weightloss" on the internet - I was searching to see if the centers were really closing! Anyway, I stumbled on this place and have found it to be a great help since my friends and family get sick of hearing about eating and losing weight

Barbara - I took your advice and went for a nice workout last night, I was kinda nervous because my membership expired at the end of September, but they don't really check - I just told the kids to head straight for the daycare center and don't stop unless I tell them to I'm going to try to sneek in for the whole month and then re-join in January. At my work they give us money to join a gym, but the money doesn't come in until January and they will not reimburse you for any fees incurred before then.

Kim - that's funny about the woohoo stick! At my center they had a bell - I hated when they were overzealous with the darn bell! I prefer a quieter congrats, personally. And on the gym - work through the pain, you'll feel fine in a couple of days...

Katie - I usually do a budget rather than number of gifts. Since we have a big family my kids get plenty of stuff, so I don't put my name on anything - everything from us is from Santa. My 11 yo just started figuring this out last year - he's had so many questions that I finally had to break it to him this morning because I have a feeling that he's being teased at school - he said the kids were telling him that only 2 year olds believe in Santa! He was fine with hearing the truth, but I had to hold back tears...

Julie- My son figured it out this year too. He has been really good about respecting his sisters' right to figure it out themselves, though. In fact, it has been kind of fun to let him in on a few little secrets for the girls. We usually give the kids one big gift each from Santa, and their stocking, then wrap the rest from us. Their year, though, I can't seem to pick the Santa gift, since everything is so personalized.

Ouch, Kim.. Take it easy or you'll burn yourself out! The fastest way to giving up the gym is to overdo it early on and take the fun out of it..

Welcome Mikkim! I'm sorry your counselors aren't more supportive.. That really can be a downer.. Like Kim, however, I was more used to the staff going ape when I'd have a success.. We had these horrible little singing/dancing James Brown statuettes in the weight in room and if you posted a good loss, they'd hit the button and it would sing "I Feel Good".. Being a kind of shy person, I found it horribly embarrassing. (I know gang... ME? Shy??) So as soon as they'd hit the button, I'd hit it again to shut it off.. After a while, they knew not to hit it when I did my WI's..

Slowly but surely getting rid of the leftovers from our party on Saturday by Liz and I bringing them to our respective offices.. Yesterday was the big vat of homemade Chex mix.. Today it's the pumpkin roll a neighbor made.

A family friend is now a PT at our gym, so Liz, who is becoming increasing frustrated with her struggle, is going to sign on with her and get some good work going.. This family friend also used to be very heavy, but has really done a great job in taking it off, so I'm encouraged that Liz will succeed.

Have a great day all!
