Well, it didn't just appear in front of me out of thin air, now, did it?

Usually it's something in the house--sometimes a food that I'm normally OK with having around, but for some reason go crazy with.

Less often it's a food at a restaurant where I forget my restaurant rules.

Well, I haven't waaay overdone it since I started eating healthy, but of course I sometimes have more than I should. It's almost always because of desserts my sister makes, or candy & snacks she has laying around. Our family most often gathers at her house.

Most recently it was this past weekend, because we spent Saturday at the beach, and there was lots of snacking. And Diet Coke too.

Thumbs down Food at receptions

At a "reception" type event that isn't part of a planned meal or snack.

I face a void of rules and can revert to my eat everything in sight mode.

at my mom's house! she always has yummy but not good for you stuff in the "snack cabinet"! oreos are a weakness of mine. especially right now when she has the white chocolate covered ones out! and chips. she always has chips. and after you eat something sweet you need something salty! so my mom's house is a big danger zone for me (but i have been getting better when i am there!).

It comes to my front door when I dont want to cook.
I'll have one night a week where I eat a candy bar (reeses), which comes from my bf when I ask him to grab me one while he's at the store
And it comes from dining in restaurants.

This is a good realization question, Susan. Bad food doesn't appear in my refigerator or cabinets. We go out and intentionally purchase these foods for one reason or antoher. It's not an accident and it doesn't just happen. We give in to our urges. Good question!

I have never gone through a drive-thru by myself.

What do you have to say to that notion?

Oh Susan! What a good question.

This past couple of weeks, the things I've eaten that weren't good for me came from:
My husband (who brings home bags of chips that were on sale or loaves of fresh crusty french bread from the market)
My job (shooting weddings - sometimes you have to eat what's there - and then there's wedding cake)
My office building (the people in the studio across the hall bring in goodies all the time and bring stuff over to me - halloween candy, anyone?)

I rarely *rarely* buy my own junk food any more ... but I find that if someone offers me something, I have a hard time saying no. Harder lately because of some stress I'm still dealing with. I'm working on being better, though.

.

So far I haven't had trouble in restaurants or turning down stuff at work but boy did I have a mini-meltdown last Sunday. DH had croissants in the house. Normally not an issue for me to leave alone but went a little nuts and ate one of them (with melted cheese of course ) which was so good I found myself eating another one. Then the carb-mania immediately took over and I ate half a box of Kashi cheese crackers - also normally not an issue for me to have a small handful and leave alone. So for me, I'd have to say it's stuff I have in my house when my guard is down. That was the first time it happened to me in almost a year. Didn't like it one bit so keeping a tighter lid on myself for a while.

Hmm...The only time I've been in the last several weeks is when I didn't bring enough food to work (some days I'm just a lot more hungry than I anticipate when I'm packing lunch). But still I dont get anything horrible. Oh, and one other time when I was headed home late.

Some say it's convenient and faster... others argue that it's really not.

But when you're cycling calories (like me) it's nothing I sweat over. I'll look at my DP and say 'okay I ate 1800 calories today, tomorrow I'll eat 1400.' Or whatever. With the exception of Halloween, I haven't gone off "my" plan in... gosh, months I suppose. I just have my weekly candy bar and a no count meal.

It's usually something my teenage son has requested that I make. I call dishes like this "comfort food." It often has pasta included.

I don't keep junk in the house although I do buy tortilla chips for my husband. Sometimes I'll indulge a little too much in them.

Any junk I eat generally comes from me purposefully going and buying it. Sometimes work will have things like cookies or chocolate for people to take and I'll break down. Also, we have a cafe at work where we can buy things like bagels, which I adore.

Most times, it is someone else's house. My mom's, my grandfathers, when I'm dogsitting...it's exposure to foods I don't keep in my own home.

Sometimes, its baking that I need to do. I'm usually good with control, but not always.

I have trouble with free food too. Like a plate of cheese and crackers at a meeting.
