40th Anniversary Gift
I need some suggestions, please. My boss and his wife, who also works here, will be celebrating their 40th anniversary soon. We've been invited to a dinner. What would be an appropriate gift? They are both from China but are citizens here. He is blind, so anything reading related would become the burden for her. They don't drink so a bottle of wine would be out.
Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Talking books would be great for him. Or CD's they could both enjoy. Or a dinner at a nice restaurant. Someplace elegant. A weekend in Monterey or Carmel.
Is the entire staff chipping in?

What about a neat tea set. You could find a nice tea pot and some specialty teas. I know tea isn't everyone's deal, but i think it would be nice suggestion.

so i just looked up and found out that the suggested gift for the 40th is the ruby. Maybe you could find some nice candle holders that were ruby in color with a nice engravement etc

Thank you! Now I have a direction. I think I may approach some of the others about the weekend in Monterey or Carmel.

Maybe a gift certificate for a sitting at a photography studio for some portraits?
(I had this done with my oldest when he was a baby with my in-laws as a surprise for my husband and they also did a portrait of just my in-laws. It was actually REALLY nice to have for all of us, since my mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly less than a year later.)

We gave my parents a photo package for their 50th. It turned out to be a great gift for all of us. Wish I'd thought of having the sitting with parents or in-laws and the kids. What a great idea.

They tend to have a family photo done each year so I think that one won't work. But thanks.
