Default How much can you bench?

So, everyone - what is your maximum on bench press?

I've never tried to find my max. I could do my set of 12 with 70 pounds. Definitely nothing to be gloating about

You may have more luck with this down on the weightlifting section. Those ladies are hardcore

I've never tried my max either. Last time I did any (4 years & +50lbs ago) I could do 2 sets of 12 at 80lb. I did pickup my 155lb sister the other day.....

I'll have to find out, I too have never tried. But, but, but - my training is paying off - I like to freak my husband out by picking HIM up (he weighs 269 pounds).

Granted, I can't swing him up into the air like I can my 48 pound son - but I can lift that boy and hold him a few inches in the air. It annoys him terribly I don't think he ever envisioned that when I started my quest for fitness.

I haven't done bench presses in years. My max used to be sets of 140 lbs (2-3 sets of 12). I can do a few pushups (5 or so) with my current weight which I think is a bit more impressive

I think there's a formula somewhere for your one rep max, using what you currently lift. If I find it I'll report back.

When I was still married, my X would try to pin my wrists and couldn't do it. Really would irk him. So I say I can "bench" 290 lbs. up to five inches from the floor.
