Wink Meet and Greet - Locations / dates vote

Okay...so several people have expressed their interest in a get-to-gether.....now its time to settle on some dates and a location....here are somethings to consider for:

Dates:
1. Time to meet your goal weight (and use this trip not only as a way to meet people who helped support you....but also as a reward)
2. Times when you can take off from work/school or kids can get off if you are bringing the family.
3. Sufficent time to save up for the trip

I'm suggesting Summer of 2010....so not this summer but next summer I think would give everyone plenty of time to save up that wanted to go!

Locations:

1. Cruise - This pretty much encompasses everything that everyone suggested......there are spas on a cruiseship, casinos, plenty of beach scenes....etc...lots to do and all inclusive!!! BUT you must consider getting sea sick

2. Las Vegas - Not really a family friendly, so I would probably leave the kids at home. Also, many of the hotels are kind of expensive...but I'm sure we can all find one we agree with......Also many cheap buffets for eating out...LOL! And free drinks as long as your gambling...LOL!

3. Spa getaway - I have looked into several of these....they are very expensive; however, they are taylored towards eating healthy, exercising, and an overall healthy experience.....most were located in beautiful places with waterfalls to take walks and stuff......I'm sure I can find one that is nice and not too expensive if your interested in a get-to-gether that will not derail all our good efforts.....I would say if we choose this one to leave the families at home...LOL!

4. Beach time!!! - So, this one speaks for itself.....the beach, the sun, the ocean........grilling out! Maybe several people can get together and go in on some condos???? Not sure which way would be the cheapest route here....really depends on where we go...

So everyone let me know some dates and and thoughts on locations.....I know I can't go before Summer 2010...but if you guys vote for one before then I will still help plan it!

Summer of 2010 works well for me. I have too many things planned for 2009 already. Any of the locations are fine with me. I've always said that when I hit my goal I'm going to do a walking tour of Ireland, but with the value of the US dollar crashing, I think a domestic location would be a better value.

Summer 2010... by then I (and many others on this site) will have been able to save up AANNNDD reached their goals or mini-goals, so we can all celebrate together! A cruise would be wonderful, but it should be economic... maybe we can get group rates!

Glad you're still planning to do this!!!!

1. Anytime!!! - but know that going to these places in the summer months may be VERY hot. I went to Vegas in July a couple years ago and it was miserable!

2. Anytime!

3. I have not cared for any of the cruises that I have gone on previously. You just aren't in one location long enough to really have a good time. It's always "go, go, go" and not enough "relax" for me... (just my thoughts...)

Vegas may be difficult for obvious reasons...but I love Vegas!

My vote is beach time... We can all be at one resort. Also, many places give group rates espeically if you go through a travel agency with a large number of people. Most places have all inclusive rates for those that are interested. One problem here is that most places need a passport and many people don't have that. Puerto Vererta, Bahamas, Jamaica, Cabo--all great places but you need the passport. Puerto Rico doesn't require a passport though.

BUT, I'll do whatever! I love trips!!!

I think either Summer or Fall 2010 would be great! Usually after Labor Day is cheaper so we might want to think of that as well. I'm up for a cruise!!

I'm in for summer 2010. I'm not a big cruise person - mostly because in order to get good rates, you have to travel in pairs - which means either i have to find someone to come with me or I have to have a roommate. I'm not adverse to a roommate, but I do like my privacy and would rather have a place where I could go to be alone if I needed some down time.

Las Vegas would be my 1st choice since there's so much to do. Also you can get good rates in the summer - a lot of the hotels offer summer specials.

But really, I'll go along with whatever the crowd wants.

And I'll bring my cameras and be the official photographer!

What A great idea!

I would vote for a beach trip because it has more freedom choices. Families would be able to do this probably cheaper than a cruise. I can be ready in 2010. It would be a great incentive!!

Yeahhh....that sounds great!

WOW I didn't realize everyone would be so divided on the location! So far it doesn't seem like we have any votes for a spa get away so we can rule that one out I guess.....

I'm thinking if we do a cruise it should be mid to late May so that we can avoid hurricane season which starts in June......

I agree with the miserable hot weather in Vegas in late June and July...maybe we can consider late May early June for that location....or maybe even mid May???

Hmmm....beach locations....I'm thinking white sandy beaches with clear waters.....without lots of crowds....maybe an all inclusive Sandals resort???? Passports shouldn't be a problem...I think they are pretty easy to get.

keep me informed....keep the opinions coming!

Here is some of theinfo I have found so far -

4 night cruise (Florida to Cuzumelm, Mexico and back to Florida) - as low as $379.00 per person. (doesn't include flight)

3 nights in Las Vegas at the Luxor Hotel and Casino - as low as $153.33 for room (does not include flight or food)

I will try to check out some more stuff later!

I like the sound of Vegas in May
My second choice would be a spa vacation.

im easy to please.. i just wanna meet people and be somewhere fun! Just trying to think of pros and cons to come to a better conclusion.

I'm up for it! My vote is more for the cruise as the food is included and you can choose to do on shore activities or stay on the ship and participate in those activities or just take a nap! Plus they have shows, casinos, spas, dance floors, swimming pools and lets not forget exercise equipment, just to name a few!!!

I find that for all of the things a cruise offers it's just so much more affordable than other vacation packages. I'm sure we could get group rates and you could probably pick who you want to room with

I should add that you can cruise anytime on the west coast, no hurricanes!
