Ok so lately when I do my cardio, I run on the eliptical because the treadmill causes too much impact on my knees. Anytime I've ever been on an eliptical(which I love by the way) my toes tend to get tingly and like fall asleep after about 30 minutes on it. Does anyone else experience this or is it just me?? Also sometimes I dont like to watch the tv's or see all the other people around me so I will close my eyes while running(holding on of course) and jujst totally jam out to the mp3 player. It helps the time past faster and I can run faster also. People probably look at me like I am crazy but when I go to th gym it is my only time alone with my own thoughts so i try to take advantage of it.
Oh my goodness we must be workout twins! - Tingly toes happen to me all the time on the elliptical! I heart the elliptical too - Remember turned me on to it...I also close my eyes and jam when I am on it instead of watching tv because I can't see the TV cause I don't wear my glasses when I workout.
I love being inside my head when I workout! Its also my only time alone because I live with my bf and we don't have the same music tastes so I get to jam!
Thanks so much for your post...that makes me wanna do the elliptical tomorrow!!!!
Hey me too! I was wondering what that was all about too. It gets annoying sometimes and kind of turns me off to using it which is a shame because I love the workout I get from it.
I should see me watching back to my apartment when i get off the machine. My underwear has turned into a thong, I am bright red, my toes are numb and my arms feel like limp noodles. Really. Sexy.
I know, I sweat soooo much its not even funny. The people behind me on the bus have got a sight to see. My butt jigglin as I run and me mouthing words to a song they can't hear with my eyes shut!! NICE. And my face always gets super red too.(I mostly only wear thongs that way I dont have wedgies to pick out)
Ive always wondered why that foot tingly thing happens. Its not just elipticals for me...bikes etc. I thought it was just poor circulation, cuz I'm one of those people whose hands are always cold, but since all of you have experienced it, I guess it's not too much to worry about. phew.
i dont get it so much on bikes, but i definately get it on cross trainers (which i think are the same as elipticals). Something to do with the thing that holds the foot i think.
I think it has to do the with doing the same motion or somehing, not quite sure. sometiems its not as bad as othe times but its still annoying. i try to scrunch my toes and move my feet around as I'm running. Not an easy feat of course
I, too, love the elliptical machine! But sorry ladies, I don't experience any tingling in my toes. My heels hurt sometimes, though. It's still better than any significant time on a treadmill or running... I've always had good running shoes but no matter what shoe I wear I get blisters on my Achilles tendon when I jog.
However, lately I haven't even broken a sweat on the elliptical. Maybe I need to up the intensity? I've been doing half an hour on the elliptical and 15 minutes on the treadmill - long enough to stop my legs from feeling weird from the elliptical but not so long that the jogging bothers my Achilles.
I LOVE the ELLIPTICAL! i really hate to run because i have a large chest and it really hurts to run like that but the elliptical machine doesn't do this. btw i have had tingly toes i think it is from pressing my foot in the front of the foot pedal.
Yeah the tingling usually happens after I go past round the 30 minute mark. And I am running at a pretty good intensity so I dont know if that has to do with it or what.
