Kind of a cool thing!
I don't love walking outside. There, I said it. I'm afraid I'm going to lose my keys, I'm afraid I'm going to get mugged LOL, a host of things!
So imagine my delight to learn that our new LVEC (Large Venue Entertainment Complex), a ginormous new indoor stadium for concerts etc., is doing a fun thing for residents of the city.
You can come in the morning/afternoon, and walk the inside of the complex, and they have 3 different routes mapped out for 1 2 or 3 miles, and they have more advanced levels where you can run up and down the stadium steps (i'm not there juuuuust yet LOL)
Even better, you get there and sign in (FOR FREE) and they'll lock up your purse/keys, etc., and loan you a pedometer for your walk.
I think that is super groovy deluxe! I tried it out this morning and it was awesome. Nice temperature, lots of different people walking, some running. Well lit, nice and safe! I'm totally stoked about this !!

What a great program! You are very lucky! I love having an indoor place to walk. It's hard to get motivated to get outside and just do it when it is very hot or very cold or raining outside. This wway you have no excuse!

Hi All! I live in NC and have a horrible time getting myself to exercise. I think you will all help me stay motivated. I've got about 50 lbs to lose. Been up and down ALL my life, like most of us I'd guess.
Anyway, I love to meet new friends. Thanks for being here.

That is such a great thing that the stadium is doing for the residents of your city. When I was in Lake Placid earlier this summer, we saw a lot of people walking around the arena and doing running drills on the steps during the competition we were at. That will be great during the winter months when it's colder and maybe not as easy to get outside and walk!

WOW! That sounds like such a cool idea! How exciting for you. I get a little self-conscious about walking outside, too, because it just seems so... Public. I would love to have something like that. Lately I've been considering just going to the mall and taking some laps around there, LOL.

That's fantastic! I especially like that they will lock up your purse, etc. Your city has 'stepped up' to fulfill an important need. Go girl!!

What a marvelous option for walking!
I dislike walking because of it being so public. It's sad because I live in a great neighborhood which is safe. I am going to start walking my dogs this week. I noticed that they have been very restless since we have moved into this house. We used to have a pasture off of our back yard at our other house and they could go there and romp around. We have a big backyard but they are not getting enough exercise.
Also, in this neighborhood, I had noticed quite a few big women walking around, so if they feel good about it, then I'm just going to have to buckle down and go for it.

My last job had something like that! Our building was huge, and they mapped two different routes that people could walk - one inside, one outside, each about 1.5 miles total (plus the inside one got you walking stairs). I loved it...I was so much more fit at that job. My building here is itty bitty, and while I occasionally take a couple laps outside during lunch hour, I know once it gets frosty outside I wont do it nearly as often.
Thats really wonderful, and I'm glad your community has it.
