Ok ladies, I know that you can't spot tone, BUT I know that you can help strengthen your core while doing cardio.
What are some exercises to strengthen the core and in the long run help tone upper inner thighs and back love handles?
I can tell a huge difference everyone but these two places seem to be "growing" they're not really growing, but I fee like I'm getting a funny shape because they're not toning like the other areas. What can I do?
Good news - as you lose weight, these areas WILL get smaller, because they will have less fat on them.
Bad news - depending on your pre-weight-loss shape, these might be spots where you have loose skin. My inner thighs are a close second to my stomach for the loose skin issue, and despite much muscle built underneath that skin, they're never going to be tight and firm looking (without surgery). If I wear something cut badly for my body, too, I end up with loose skin rolls on my back.
My favorite inner thigh strength training exercise is the ballerina or plie squat (Squat with the toes pointing out)...it's a great whole-leg exercise. For the back, there are any number of things you can do...seated or standing rows, pulldowns, etc. Google "Back Exercises" and you should get some ideas. I've found that Pilates-style "Core" work also targets the lower back.
There are machines if you go to a gym that strengthen and tone the inner thighs. For back area you can do backwards crunches and hold weights to make it harder. Also cardio where you are really moving your entire body will help also. I hate the jiggles and can't wait to get rid of mine!!!
Backfat is forever, just like diamonds. LOL! thats what a bartender I used to know always said. She's wrong though. As you lose weight you'll lose it from all over so eventually you'll lose that back love too. Inner thighs though, that is a tough area...I do lunges but I know you can't do those with your rod. the recumbent bike works my inner thighs if I sit slouching. and if I sit on my stability ball while watching tv and move around alot I manage to have sore muscles in the inner thigh and core area the next day.
I dropped from 310 to 145 and I still had the same "shape" I had at 310, only smaller. Back fat rolls, tummy rolls, upper thighs-you name it-it looked the same only smaller. I think for me it's a combo of genetics and having skin that was stretched just too far to fully spring back. It may, for you, be that it will even out when you lose a little more.
*A*
a friend showed me some exercises on you tube that look like they could help me.... I'd be a size skinnier if I didn't have that problem. grrr.... I'm the only one in my family too. no one has back fat, they all have stomachs which mine isn't as bad....
My SO, who has very little love handles, is convinced the only way he is going to get rid of them is by liposuction. I told him to stop eating at taco bell everday...I'm not the most popular person in his world when it comes to nutritian.
You can certainly use weights to help your back muscles along, but losing weight overall is the only thing that will have an impact on backfat and inner leg fat.
I have this threshhold of about 145 lbs where I am bothered by back fat and thigh fat. I also have loose skin on my back, most notable on the back of my arms at the crease (top of my pits). It is what it is, most obvious to me more than others. I was really bothered by it when I saw the views from behind of me in my wedding dress and everyone thinks I'm nuts
I hate back fat, but I really hate inner thigh fat. My trouser size is two more than for tops, and it pisses me off. The worst thing is, I work out a lot, go hillwalking and use the cross trainer, so I have quite toned outer thighs, but really flabby inner thighs! Garrrragaghgrhh!
