Oh, I'd love to see those recipes too!

Your question made me think of the socca we ate in Nice, kind of a crepe, street food, made with chick peas. I haven't made it at home, but I'll bet you could get it crispy. If you google "socca recipe" you will find lots of ideas.

BTW, did you make the brownies with chick peas? I have made them with black beans and white beans, but I wondered if chick peas would work as well.

This is interesting! I can't wait to see some recipes! I have been too afraid to try the brownies just yet, I don't want something around that I will over-indulge with!

There are lots of things I can't keep around because I'll overindulge, but the brownies aren't a problem. If you use Kara's recipe, there is no oil in them, basically they are skim milk, egg whites, and beans, so even if you did eat too many, it wouldn't be a problem. Also, they are very filling, so one is very satisfying and I usually feel like it's enough.

I tried Kara's recipe and while they are definitely more brownie like, I prefer the simpler recipe. Kara's recipe was delicious but they gave me horrible gas! (I think from the sf caramel since I haven't had much issue with the other brownies) Anyway, that would make me limit them.

I love the bean brownies......DS loves them as well, and I don't feel bad if he eats a few more than he should. The only problem is that they make me really....ahem...farty.

I talked to a friend of mine who is also doing SB and she told me that she adds a bit of beano to them.

Pookynutt, that sounds interesting and I think you're very creative to come up with some stuff like that. I am also interested in hearing your recipes.

Ok, I will post asap. I had a little accident in the kitchen with spaghetti squash and burned my arm pretty bad. second degree burns! i am okay, but it looks really gross. so it may be a minute until i post when i am back in the saddle. But i promise i will when i get it perfected.

oh i used northern beans for the brownies, but got the idea for the other when i roasted chickpeas and added splenda and cinnamin. btw, if you really toast them long and crisp, they are good in milk like cereal!

Ouch! I hope you Pooky!

I have a recipe somewhere for crepes made with chickpea flour. You fill them with these super-yummy veggies. I'll have to post it sometime soon. They don't get crispy, per se, but they are really yummy.

I searched and found chickpea flour on the internet. i have never seen it in stores. but it says you can use it in place of wheat flour and by the consostency of what i have made so far, i believe it!

Pooky - you can make your own chickpea flour. Just throw those chickpeas (uncooked) in a blender or food processor and whiz whiz whiz until they turn into a flour like substance.

btw, I wasn't thinking one day and tried making it out of a can of chickpeas.....it ended up being hummus.

that's what i have been doing thus far with the other recipes! just didn't know if i would get a different consistency with the flour (i guess it is dried beans) so when you mix it you would probably get about the same consistency as the canned blended up, probably. it just might be easier to measure for baked goods (as a straight flour subsititute)
