Question Motivating Music During a Workout...

Hey everyone! For those of you who listen to music while working out...

I was just wondering what motivates you to go faster, longer, etc.

I've found that music can pump me up and make me really work that elliptical, treadmill, weights, and whatnot, but I'm getting tired of all my old songs.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I want to get a new playlist together and would love to hear suggestions!!

** I like just about anything! If it has a beat, I'll listen to it!

I have tons of playlists depending on what mood I am in, lol. I agree with you about music being a motivator. I cannot imagine attempting to workout with music...I just wouldn't end up doing anything. My taste is incredibly varied, but when I workout it is typically hip hop, 80's, or rap. Let me know what type of music you enjoy. I have also enjoyed 60's and 70's, just depends...nothing like alittle Donna Summers Hot Stuff to make things move a bit faster, lol.

I listen to Matchbox 20 most of the time! I guess it really depends what your taste is!

I change my playlist all the time. Since I started jogging though, I need more motivating stuff. Here goes:

Black Eyed Peas
Muse
Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs
AC/DC of course
The Strokes
Outkast
Joan Jett
The Animals
Against Me!
Flaming Lips

I also love several Podcasts:

This American Life
Chris and Jimmy's Scene/Unseen
Ask Zorba
Talk of the Nation
Fresh Air

Get the Shrek sound track - it has some lovely, fast songs on it.

Hmmm I Love listening to music too. However, I am awful about knowing the names of the songs I like! I know the words to a million songs but no clue who sings them or what the name is...

Some I do remember are:
Paralyzer by Finger 11
Godsmack
black eye peas
hinder
How do you like me now - Toby Keith

Ha! I have a playlist titled "PUMPT!!" on my iPod for exactly this purpose... I'll share mine, too. But just as a disclaimer: I'm aware that I sometimes have... Er, questionable taste in music. But I've found that listening to really cheesy pop honestly lifts my mood and really gets me moving, hehe.

Some suggestions:
Music Is My Hot Hot Sex - CSS (not a dirty song! lol)
Boyz - M.I.A.
Almost all of Britney Spears' "Blackout" album--great dance music!
Almost all of the ABBA Gold album (the fast songs). I <3 ABBA! Haha.
Golddigger - Kanye West
Some Girls - Rachel Stevens
I'm Not Your Girl - Lalaine
Cleveland Rocks - Presidents of the USA (close to my hometown, hehe)
Lump - Presidents of the USA
Flagpole Sitta - Harvey Danger
My Own Worst Enemy - Lit
The Bad Touch (aka "Discovery Channel") - Bloodhound Gang LOL
Love Today - Mika
Grace Kelly - Mika
No Sleep Tonight - The Faders
Rock And Roll All Nite - Kiss
Walk Like An Egyptian - The Bangles
La La - Ashlee Simpson
Hips Don't Lie - Shakira
Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) - Offspring
Sugarhigh - Coyote Shivers
Love Shack - The B-52's
Everytime We Touch - Cascada
I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow
Dip It Low - Christina Milian
AM to PM - Christina Milian
Material Girl - Madonna
Walking On Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves
Dancing With Myself (techno version) - Generation X
What's Up? (remix) - 4 Non Blondes
3 Small Words - Josie & The kittycats (from the movie! ha)
Satellites - Cherry Monroe
Lady Marmalade - Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya, Lil' Kim
Survivor - Destiny's Child
Hot Stuff - Donna Summer
Don't Bring Me Down - ELO
Our Lips Are Sealed - The Go-Go's
Ooh La La - Goldfrapp
Bossy - Lindsay Lohan (I know, I know... But it's SO catchy)
Screwed - Paris Hilton (see above LOL)
True To Your Heart - 98 Degrees/Stevie Wonder (from Mulan)

Whew! I really could go on forever, but I think I should stop myself now, hehe. I will definitely look up song of the stuff that you all have suggested... I'm kind of a music junkie.

I love it when music threads come up...they always happen at the right time when I'm looking for some new jams!

I'll have to check out what's in my playlist when I'm not at work but I'm going to second all suggested songs. I also listen to a lot of Dropkick Murphy's and Flogging Molly and other similar (but probably lesser known) bands. It's the only type of music that actually gets me to jog/run
