Thought I'd share some good news!
Good news from the doctor. For those of you who have been around for a while you will know that I've been arm wrestling cervical cancer for quite some time now (yes caused by the HPV virus like you see on TV). I was diagnosed at 22 and am now 27. I was deemed free and clear a while back but had cancerous regrowth about 8 months ago. Everything has always been caught in the early stages but I am constantly monitored for more growth so that it can remain treatable. This has been a major source of my depression and drinking and over eating and generally something that just makes me feel bad about myself.
Well...here is the good news...my doctors office called this morning (usually a number on the caller id that sends my blood pressure through the roof) and told me that all of my most recent tests from a couple of weeks ago came back normal...NORMAL. No cancer, virus is dormant, nothing out of whack normal. I'm trying not to be too excited and jinx myself, but it certainly is a mental and emotional booster!
I think it must be all the antioxidants in all the blueberries I'm eating. Anyway, I just wanted to share the good stuff!

Congrats. And thank you so much for sharing this. I am fighting the same battle, and it is so scary. Going for more testing soon. I hope you are right about the blueberries! I have been eating them every day (plus green tea). So happy for you!

Congratulations!! I went through the same thing 20 years ago. I have had no issues of regrowth since. But I do get a bit edgey every year when I go for my PAP.

Thanks gals...ya I call it arm wrestling because I was caught early enough that I don't think it can be quite considered a battle... My mother and breast cancer was a battle....this thankfully has never progressed enough to be a full battle but is still a struggle and is scary and hard emotionally and mentally. It's very hard to not have any control over sickness in your body.
It really is hard and scary and after the past 6 years of doctors poking and prodding etc. I've been doing research and consulting with a friend who is a doctor but not involved for advice and I'm moving forward and trying to start controlling this with diet and exercise. I've been reading the studies on diets that are high in fruits and vegetables. This is good...cause fruits and veggies are good! I'm trying to eat as many fresh fruits and veggies as possible, eat more vegetarian meals, I'm also not smoking, and rarely drinking. I'm hoping by doing this and getting down to a healthy maintainable weight that I can ward off recurrences.
No amount of medical treatment has kept this from coming back, I've reached the point of a more holistic approach with diet, regular exercise, meditation and yoga, decreasing stress etc. I hope it works!
