Default No veggies, I'll just have pie

Two weeks ago I had a moment where I thought that I wasn't able to do anything about my sugar addiction and that I would just have to be fat and tired for the rest of my life. The desire to endlessly eat ice cream, pie, cookies, and anything else was just too strong and I am just too tired to exercise. I don't like veggies and I don't like exercising. Who the **** did I turn into???? I would rather sit on the couch all day and have meals consisting of chocolate mousse, coconut cream pie and cookies. How did I come to this? Who is this person? I kept repeating to myself "I would rather eat cookies than lose weight and be healthy....I would rather be tired for the rest of my life because I want an ice cream right now....I would rather eat pie now and not be able to enjoy an active life style." Really? This is me talking and I don't know who that is anymore if I am trading life for sugar. I now understand addiction. So, I checked into the South Beach forum and learned how to make a few veggie dishes that taste good. I went to BJ's and bought and industrial size box of veggies and decided that from this point on every meal had to consist mostly of veggies in some form (Rule#1). Also have incorporated whole grains. As far as exercise...I started lifting weights and doing some walking. That's all I can manage right now. Hmm...end of my first week doing this and I am not craving sweets and down a couple pounds. Hope I can keep this going....

Since you've identified your dependence on sugar, I would strongly recommend that you quit it altogether, when you feel up to making that change. It's a very drastic change and takes some mental commitment--you may need a couple of weeks to work up to it.

However, you will be AMAZED at what you gain just by quitting sugar. A huge increase in energy, lack of mid-day sleepiness, mental clarity, a general sense of well-being, absence of cravings for sugar and junk, clear skin...it's all waiting for you.

This is so true. Thanks for putting it into words and sharing. It's a really good piece of motivation.
