Default Introduction and question about Stevia

Hey everyone

I'm new here.. coming over from calorie counters. I miss olive oil!

Haha. I've lost 5 lbs and no hunger. I love it so far! (This is my first week).

Thanks everyone for posting so many great recipes. The cafeteria at work yesterday had chocolate cake and it looked soooo good. So I went home and made the bean brownies... It COMPLETELY got rid of that craving- so good!

Anyway, my question is about Stevia.. I notice that it's not mentioned in the books, and I haven't seen many people talk about it on here... I'm assuming it's SB friendly, but someone let me know if it's not !

Thanks, and this is a great group!

I've used Stevia, both powder and liquid for a very long time. I actually grew a stevia plant once. But then I killed it because I don't have a green thumb. :-)

I believe that it is SBD friendly because it doesn't elevate blood sugar and you use very little of it because it is so sweet tasting. Some people don't like the taste of it, but I like it better than artificial sweeteners.

I don't use very much, only a couple of liquid drops in ricotta or yogurt. I think that if you don't overdo it, Stevia should be fine.

I know some people are strict by the book folks, but I lean more toward by the intent of the book. I know Dr. A is all about low Glycemic so if something isn't listed in the book I do the research. Based on that process I think stevia is acceptable, as is agave. Personally I'm not a stevia fan but my partner, who is diabetic, loves it. They make a chocolate raspberry liquid that goes in her coffee every morning We did grow a plant once but she prefers the liquid.
