i'm a pretty sporadic exerciser...exercising in grand gestures rather than the tried and tested small and steady efforts :P
i've been walking home once or twice a week for the last few weeks and that's about it. i'm going to do it this evening cos i only did it once last week. it's about 9 km (5.6 miles).
I'm having problems with the in between walking in place it's aggravating my foot and flaring my plantar fasciitis. Anyone have a suggestion of what I can do instead of walking in place to keep my heart rate up?
emeraldjules - Biking is an excellent alternative because it's no-impact.
A doctor once suggested this to me for plantar fascitis, and it was one of the best suggestions I've ever gotten. Take a 1 liter soda bottle or water bottle, fill it with water, and freeze it completely. (Leave a little bit of room in the bottle because the water will expand when frozen.) Put the frozen bottle on the floor and roll the sole of your foot on it for about 15 minutes. It reduces the inflamation, gently stretches the plantar fascia, and offers some pain relief.
I used to do this once (sometimes twice) every day, and that frozen bottle lived in my freezer.
Emeraldjules - I have chronic foot problems and use two different tapes: Chair Aerobics and Chair Dancing. I got them both via Amazon.com. Yes, biking is a good non impact exercise for you, too.
I don't think I have posted at all this week. I've done the first two workouts for week four of c25k. I have also done slim in 6. I hurt myself yesterday while I was running. My ankle just suddenly, OUCH! I have no idea what happened. It still hurts a little this morning but not near as bad as last night. I'm taking today off, and will HOPEFULLY start back tomorrow.
