Default What to do with unwanted gift cards?

I received a gift card for Kohl's over Christmas. I worked there for 1 and 1/2 and hardly ever bought anything, and frankly that's the last place in the world I'd ever go shopping.

So anyways, any ideas what I can do with it? I've been looking at a trading site but it is over my head.

I bet almost any charity organization would gladly take it.

How about an abused womens shelter? They have them almost everywhere. They always need clothes and toiliteries.

Re-gift? I house sat for someone last summer, and she paid me with 20 bucks and an old victoria's secret gift card she'd never used. It worked out pretty well. Not quite as philanthropic as a women's shelter or NGO - but its an idea none the less.

I'd just look for something for the house, towels sheets, or underwear or shoes they carry Nike, Reebok an other popular brands. Socks, tee shirts ? I would be able to find something I am sure. I once received a Macy's gift card for $100 and oddly enuf I couldn't find anything I wanted so I purchased a pair of earrings for about $20 and they gave me the change in cash .

Oh my god, I could spend millions at Kohl's. I can't control myself there.

Sell it on Ebay? Or like others said, regift, donate, or even buy a gift for someone with a wedding/birthday/babyshower that is coming up?

You can always use it online if you do not want to go to the store.

Or....give it to one of us..lol

I don't think I can regift it, it has snowflakes on it, lol (unless it's to someone who doesn't care about getting something regifted). And our kohl's is a 45 minute drive away so...

I thought maybe I'd order a pilates dvd they had online, but it's like $7 just to ship it.

how much is the gift card for? A lot of times you can get free shipping if you spend XX dollars

Maybe try craigslist in your area. See if anyone would want to trade for a different gift card that they have. Or possibly buy it from you at maybe $10 less than what its value is

I love Kohls and could spend a fortune there.

I've never used it before, but there are several sites I've heard about including swapagift.com where you can swap cards with others who don't like the cards they've been given

I'll take it!! No really...

I'd save it for when I was shopping for a gift for someone. Even if I can't find something for myself at a store, I can usually find something for someone else. I.e., I HATE Beall's, but my MIL gives me gift cards for there every Christmas, so her Mother's Day present every year is usually jewelry or a handbag bought with the gift card. She loves that we thought enough about it to shop at her favorite store and we love that we don't have to budget that expense in every year. It's a win-win for us.

there is actually a web site where you can "trade" gift cards. If you have a gift card that you don't like...you trade it for one you want. I cant remember the web site but have been to it before
