Default best tasting hot dog?

Now that it's BBQ season, what's your favorite?
I've had some FF ones that taste like rubber... I'd be willing to spend a few (but not a lot) extra calories to make them taste decent.

I've been buying Jennie-O Turkey franks.
70 calories a piece.

There's another brand I've been getting too but I can't think of what it is.

Yup...I agree with the kosher all beef. I get the low fat or fat free Hebrew Nationals. I am soooo picky about Hot Dogs and they are the only ones I eat. Well, besides Saags atomic hots - but they have a lot of calories!

The only hot dogs I like are Hebrew Nationals (which have good low fat options) and Nathans (I don't know if they have a lowfat dog?)

I, uh, used to eat an entire package of 8 Nathan's, on buns, with mustard in one. day. With Cheetos and Cokes. (Plus other foods). Good lord...

Ohhh! Hebrew Nationals 97% Fat Free dogs. 45 calories each. YUM and not rubbery at all. Go all beef. Even their lowfat ones are like... 90 cals each, I think?

I rarely eat hotdogs, but if I do I will only eat Nathan's All Beef hotdogs. I would say as long as you go all beef, it will be of a higher quality.

This is good to know, I love hot dogs during the summer, and really had not thought about it until I saw this thread. I'll have to try some of the dogs suggested, and then pick my fav from them. Hebrew Nationals 97% Fat Free dogs is what I'll for first when I do my grocery shopping..

I agree, Hebrew National are the best hot dogs. I'll look for the ones lower in fat.

Smile I love my dogs...hot ones I mean

Thanks for the tips. I find that grilled hot dogs are just the best. Brings me right back to being a kid, summer sunburn and wearing peddle pushers. Chips, hot dogs with mustard (didn't have relish and onions until I grew up) and ice cold Coke!! Throw in a popsicle afterwards!!

There is a really good show on PBS that reruns all the time about the history of the "Dog". Did you know that adults prefer mustard and kids prefer ketchup on their "dogs"? I always tease my DH about that. He's nothing but a big kid!

Oh yes, Hebrew 97% fat free are just yummy. The grill great too. I like ketchup and mustard and coney sauce sometimes I don't eat many hot dogs but I do get in the mood for them sometimes. Generally just put ketchup on them.

I've always eaten mine with mustard AND catsup--even when I was I child. But whether I was a "grown" up child or a "childish" grownup, I think I'm pretty much the same person. Mixed up. lol
