Default mayo?

hello!

I'm on day 4 of SB - so far so good! Just a quick question on mayonnaise... first, I guess, can you have it on SB? I like chicken/tuna salad - but need some mayo. I use about 1/4 cup or less for a can of tuna - I put in a lot of mustard and some red wine vinegar and celery... but for the mayo piece, I'm confused if I should use regular or fat free / light. THe ff/lite versions have sugar, but the regular is LOADED w/fat.

Any advice?

Also - is hummus allowed??

Personally, I prefer the regular mayo (Hellman's/Best Foods). Trader Joes has a mayo with no sugar added, but the taste takes some getting used to.

I guess I'd rather have real ingredients and less of it, that stuff with fillers that's labeled "low fat" -- but I know lots of others here will have different views. I also prefer butter to margerine or other "buttery spreads" and such. LOL

Oh, and I don't see a reason hummus shouldn't be allowed.

Hummus, also spelled hamos, houmous, hommos, hommus, hummos, hummous or humus) is a dip or spread made of blended chickpeas, sesame tahini, lemon juice, and garlic.

Hummus contains large amounts of the nutrients iron, vitamin C, and is a good source of protein and dietary fiber thanks to its primary ingredient. Depending on the recipe, it contains varying amounts of monounsaturated fat. Hummus is especially suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets.

rdye, mayonnaise has fat, but it is healthy non-saturated fats. This is preferable on SBD to the sugars in the lowfat/FF versions.
And yes, hummous is absolutely allowed, as long as there are no added sugars. Check your labels, as some of the flavored ones have some sugar. Or make your own. Yummy and very healthy!
