Default I would like a weight loss partner

I am a 26 y/o female living in northern Virginia. I am looking to lose around 70-80lbs and would love to have someone to track progress with that may be looking to lose as much as me. I plan on hitting the gym 5 days a week (I just joined last week though). I am unsure of how to eat. Perhaps someone can guide me, or give me advice!

Hey Sneeks! It may be that you'll find some folks in your area--and some buddies looking to lose the same amount.--but in any case, you have lots of weight loss partners here on the forums of 3FC. In addition to the discussion threads, we have regular accountability threads for both food plans and weigh-ins.

Good luck with reaching your goals!

Hi sneeks! Yup, like Jayell says, we're all partners in weight loss around here.

As far as the eating goes, well I found tracking my calories very useful. That was a start. It helps me to keep my portions at bay. Fitday.com is very helpful in that aspect. By wanting to get the most food/nutrients and fullness for my caloire allotment, I chose/choose foods with low calories. Lots and lots and LOTS of veggies, some fruits and low fat proteins - such as egg white omlettes, chicken and turkey breast, tuna fish and salmon and talipia, fat free yogurt and some veggie burger type products. Take a look around. There's lots of great ideas here at 3FC.

Good luck to you.

I was totally against calorie counting because I didn't think i had the time. But I have been counting calories (and seriously cutting them out) for 4 days and I've lost a pound so far. I'm looking to lose about 60lbs to start with, maybe more depending on how I look and feel once I hit that goal. I would try calorie counting for a week or so and see how you feel about it. It's amazing how you don't realize how many calories things have until you start paying attention. Good luck!

Hey, Sneeks, I'm in NoVA, too! I'm 25, and I have over 100 pounds to lose (more like 150 ). I don't belong to a gym anymore, but I have done calorie counting (including calorie cycling), focused on whole foods, and now I'm doing South Beach (while still tracking my intake to see where my calories are). Do you have any idea what kind of plan you're thinking of trying, or if you're going to make up your own (I've had much success doing this before!)? You'd think with everything I've done and learned and read, I'd be a size 2, but knowledge is only part of the battle--sticking with it is 99% of the game
