Talking A few questions regarding the infamous Taco Bake!!

I am going to try the Taco Bake tonight because of it's rave reviews and I have two questions:

1. What is the best way to serve it for us beachers? I was thinking about either getting some lettuce leaves to roll it up in like a burrito or serving it on a bed of lettuce like a salad.

2. What is the best way to serve it for my semi picky boyfriend who had the metabolism of a 10 year old ( him) ? I was thinking either tortillias, taco shells or corn chips.

I can't wait to try it.
Thanks for any imput!

When I am on phase 2, I use a whole wheat tortilla but during phase 1 I serve it on salad mix. For my son, I use a flour tortilla since he is picky about his tortillas. I also grind up the mushrooms in the food processor and he likes it better. He doesn't care for cooked mushrooms but if they are ground up he isn't aware they are there.

It freezes really well. We get several dinners and lunches out of it.

I made it for the first time last week (I just omitted the canned chilis), and I piled lettuce up on the side of the plate and put a dollop of sour cream and pico (salsa) on the plate, then just scooped up a serving and put down on the plate too. Think of when you go to a Mexican restaurant and order a dish.

For the boyfriend, I think taco shells or corn chips would be the way to go. The lettuce is great for the SBD because it gives a nice crunchy texture to contrast the taco bake. So my vote would be to give your boyfriend something crunchy to scoop it up with.

We did eat the leftovers the next day, and my husband rolled the taco bake up in a ww tortilla and ate it like a burrito and loved it.

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it.

You're gonna love it!! I actually put mine over a big pile of lettuce and topped it with guacamole on P1. So yummy! I actually used taco sauce instead of tomato sauce/paste too. It just didn't seem Mexican enough for me. I also used a taco seasoning packet in the meat instead of the separate spices. It was just easier. I made sure it didn't have any added sugar though. SO GOOD!

Enjoy!!

I searched the recipe section for Taco Bake and it didn't come up.

It sounds delicious. Where can I find it?

Yes, I typically use la tortilla factory tortillas. I am not 100% sure they are perfect to eat. But I have eaten them without any issues.

The LaTortilla whole wheat ones were actually one of the first brands that was acceptable. There are now others one that are also fine.
