Arrow MAY Featherweights

The Featherweights is a small group who support each other down the road of life. We help each other over the bumpy parts, and celebrate the smooth stretches.
New members always welcome!!

Well, ladies, I have an announcement. After all the hurdles I have made it through the past 6 months, I have finally made it to the point of being ready to eat healthily again. I sat down with the family after Sunday dinner and asked for their help. I told them of my motivators and asked them to remind me of them when I begin to slip. I need your help and encouragement too, okay?

Carree, how is your pet? What did the vet say?

Hi to Kat and Ruth.

Later, ladies.

Jana, you are more than welcome to all the support and reinforcement I can offer.
I could use a bit myself, as I'm back at square one in terms of my own weight. What would be most helpful for you?

Hi all,

Kat - WHAT'S worth a peek? Did I miss something? I didn't see an URL...
I guess what I need help with is just plain old encouragement. I have SOO much to lose, and know I have to take it a pound at a time. The journey will be a very long one. So far so good. My family is such a supportive group - it really makes me feel good. Knowing that you are starting over helps a lot, too.

Do you guys remember the charms I bought for motivation? I was going to add one to a bracelet for each 10 pounds I lost? I got them out of the drawer last night, and looked them over. I had forgotten how pretty they are, and want to earn them! DH said I should reward myself for each 5 pounds lost. I have to admit that would make it more do-able for me. I am wearing the empty bracelet now.

Ruth, how's the studying?
Carree, where are you?

I am having fun in the craft room. I totally finished the comforters for the baby shower. They are so sweet and soft. DD is 28 weeks along with the twins now. She and her hubby have the nursery almost finished, including a rocking chair that was my mother's - DD is named after her.

Gotta go get busy. Have a great Wednesday!

Click on the words "not for the faint of heart" in my post above...they will highlight and are actually a link...why they don't show a different colour is anyone's guess, but they do work.

Jana,

Thanks for asking about my cat. The vet said that he definitely has arthritis in his hip, but he also has a large mass as well. He said he would send his x-rays to a specialist and get back to us by Thursday. I know we will hear from him because he hasn't sent us his bill yet. I don't think it will be good news though.

I recently got some colored paper clips and started making a chain of all my OP days!

How's that for some motivation?

Kat, keep up the good work! I am so proud of you!

Medical Assessment A
Anat. & Physiology B
Med/Surg. Nursing A

The summer plan is to work, and to taketwo classes--an online psych course that is a degree requirement and an independent study in Advanced Studio Art: Painting. I can't wait to have an excuse to paint and buy more canvas, etc.

Hi Ladies,

Kat, way to go on the grades!!!!!! I am very proud of you, too.

Carree, our older beagle has arthritis, and it is hard for her to get around sometimes. This is Thursday - what did you hear about the mass? By the way, I LOVE the idea about the paper clips. I think I'll do that, too.

Ruth, hope you are doing well.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. It's supposed to be nice here in Indiana, so I want to spend some time outside.

Toodles,
Jana

Way to go, Kat! Your future is so bright you need sunglasses to look at it!

No word yet from the specialist on my cat. Called the vet; the specialist is on vaca.

My daughter's dog had puppies this afternoon! Five in all! Three males and two females. They are so cute.

Added another colored clip to my chain.

Have a great weekend all!

Hey girls, can't stay long, just wanted to say hello to everyone. Most of my time has been studying this last week and finishing up a couple of class projects. I have 2 test on Tuesday and 2 on Thursday. I currently have A's and B's, I'm desparately hoping that my finals turn my B's to A's. Oh well, all I can do is my best.

I haven't walked as much as I needed to last week. I'll probably go this afternoon. Once test are over, I will have 3 weeks to really focus on staying op!!

Talk later,
BTW, congratulations on the grades KAT, that is awesome!!

Unhappy

I have a splitting headache that I've had most of the day.

I ran all my errands this morning and got to the shop early to pick up my trip info for a sports trip I was driving--no problem. The bus checked out--1/2 quart low on oil, but thats not a big deal. Well, when I went to pull out of my squishy parking spot I managed to rip the side mirror off of the bus next to me. I felt horrible! Luckily the damage was fairly easily repaired and all they had to order was actual mirror glass (They unbent the mirror frame and repainted it) but I felt like a moron. Of course the big boss had to come look at the damage...surprisingly he didn't yell at me--just told me to pick up an incident report for after the trip.

I picked up the softball team without incident, but it seems they weren't sure of exactly where they were going (all I had for ditrections from the company was the town name) and they had me take a wrong turn--not to worry, I had driven in that area and knew just where to easily back my bus into a side road to turn around. Well, the bus decided to stall several times--this is HIGHLY unusual. I did get it started alright and got back onto the main road. On a hill and blind curve the bus decided to stall again, so now I'm driving a fully loaded 26,000+lb bus with NO power steering or brakes and a sterring wheel that suddenly weighs a ton. I safely pulled over to the side of the road in a safe location and let the coach know what was up, and then radioed the station to let them know the problem. After many tries I got the bus to run again and got the team to their game 15 minutes ahead of schedule. A total stranger pulled his school bus up after I had unloaded the kids and tried to troubleshoot for me (he had heard the radio chatter) but wasn't able to figure out the problem either. (He was very nice and pretty dam*ed cute to boot though-looked to be early 40s ) Three hours later the game was over and I got the bus to run by leaving the throttle half out (normally you only use the throttle to keep the bus running whilst warming it up.) We made it back without incident and I did earn quite a bit, but man, it made for quite the evening.

Good Morning Featherweights!!

Kat, sounds like you need a Calgon moment after your day on the bus. I think you deserve an award just for putting up with all those kids, let alone a funky bus.

Ruth, good luck on your tests today and Thursday. I have lots of faith in you. Let us know how it goes, okay?

Carree, can a have a puppy?? I need one for the grandbabies when they get here. Congrats on the addition of another paperclip. How many in a row do you have now? I am 10 days on program and feeling great. Colored paper clips is on my Walmart list.

DD's baby shower was so nice. Lot's of people showed up and brought double everything. The one thing they didn't get was receiving blankets. Remember how we got about 4 dozen of them for our first babies?

As I said to Carree, I am still on program and feeling fine.

The next day I had a nother trip on a different bus and it went fine, aside from lasting almost 9 hours. I was beat when I finally got home!

They calledme into the office at the bus co. but to my surprise, instead of getting yelled at (though the other drivers and the mechanics all called me "Crash") I was given a regular full-time route. Hooray, guaranteed income! As for the nickname, technically I would be stuck with it until the next accident, but the same day a different driver backed into someone's car--it wasn't even another driver's car (mine has been hit in the lot, though the damage was minimal)it was a "civilian" car. Glad it wasn't me...he will get the nickname for a lot longer than I did. *grin*

Congratulations Kat, on the full-time route. Things seem to be looking up for you. Oh, did I congratulate you on your grades? Isn't the greatest feeling to make A's and B's.

I should finish the semester with 3 A's and a B. I really goofed on my Algebra. I took a remedial last semester that was not counted toward my grade point average, it was just Pass or Fail. Well, the algebra I took this semester was not counted toward my degree, so I assumed it was remedial. Wrong!!! I found out last night that it counts toward my grade point average. I didn't study and spend as much time on the class, so instead of possibly making an A, I will end up with a B (or maybe even lower). I am really aggravated at myself for not paying more attention.

JANA, when is the baby due? Baby showers are so much fun!! Hopefully, I won't have to be going to anymore anytime soon. My youngest grandbabies are 10 months and 4 months.

Hey Carree, what type of puppies are they?

Well, I'm gonna run, I was up late last night studying for my last two test today, so I'm off to bed.

BTW, I'm still walking regularly and drinking my water, I just know that anyday now the scale will show a loss.

Hiya Featherweights!

Ruth, you have done so well! We are all so very proud of you. I know you are looking forward to a break. My DH is prof of Earth Science and Conservation at the colege here, and he is officially done til second session summer school in July. He always counts down the days til the break just like the students! BTW - the babies (twin girls) are due July 23, but I understand twins almost always come early. You are so lucky to already have some grandkids!

Crash...er, Kat, so glad you got the job! When one door closes another one opens, right?

Carree, where are you?

You guys should just take me outside and shoot me. I have fallen off the wagon and can't get up. It started when I felt real woosy with low blood sugar, and had an unplanned snack, and has gotten worse. Not terrible, but worse. I think I'll just go hang out at the more2hug.com website all the time. ( I really am a member there, but the message boards aren't nearly as cool as these.)

I should be back before Mother's Day, but just in case I miss someone, let me say now:

Happy Mother's Day!!
