**Weekly Chat - 3 July - 9 July**

Hello Chickies :)

Just though I might as well start the new chat thread. :)

I guess it's quiet because of the long weekend... I hope you're all having fun. :) My own weekend was rather uneventful if not boring... We usually go on day trips or hiking, but my boyfriend has a nasty cold. I'm happy though - I went for a run! :yay: Now I just wish I knew which temp job to go take... still can't make my mind up!

ETA: just realized it's only Sunday morning in North America! Oh well, at least we'll have the new thread ready. :)

trnsfrmnreplace 07-02-2006 09:35 AM

Don't worry Sushi, it's always made on Sunday's ... well my sundays. ;)

I can't sleep. =sighs=

LockItUp 07-02-2006 03:20 PM

Well yet again my week started good and ended up terrible. I have gone shopping and have things set up to have a fool proof week this week. I even am planning on going out Wednesday for drinks but already decided to workout extra that day plus order diet coke and whatever instead of my usual super calorie filled drink fest.

I found a cereal I am very excited to try; it has 10 fiber, 13 protein and only 140 calories for a cup. I am sure it won't taste like Fruity Pebbles, but that's some good stuff for a serving of cereal! I also found a good granola and already separated it out into single servings so it's a quick grab. I also bought cliff bars because they were on sale, I have never tried them, but I like having a bar on hand, so I hope they don't taste like rocks! So here's hoping for a good week...again!

Sushi - I am always glad when the chat starts for us on Sunday, it gets me into the next week's mindset!

Trns - Hope you got some sleep!

Daisy Boo 07-02-2006 10:13 PM

morning ladies

i have just realised that i haven't been posting much - been lurking though.

this weekend feels non-existant - it went so fast. cutting a long story short - my parents were coming for dinner on saturday, turns out my cousin from england and her boyfriend were flying in from malaysia and no one knew, so we had two additional guests. threw me into a spin and my OCD was ignited. cleaning, washing, polishing, cooking, everything but the night went well and everyone had a good time.

i have been feeling completely inadequate lately and the fact that last night i had to sit through 3 hours of amateur modelling last night did not help. thin, tall, young girls strutting their stuff on the catwalk. my boyfriends kids do modelling and i was there to support them (specifically invited by the daughter ;) ). anyway, it was torture and i felt like a complete swamp monster by the end of the night. there was one girl in the seniors group, maybe mid 20's, and she had the most fantastic legs i have ever seen. strong, muscular - i could not stop staring. mind you the britney spears inspired school girl uniform was a perfect platform for showing them and the tone tummy off.

no exercise done. my heel is still sore. i still get pain shooting through it at different intervals for no apparent reason.

blah :(

lockitup - i hear you. your environment is half of the battle. i have bought WW meals in this week for my lunch (i think they are nicer than the lean cuisine, etc). if i don't have to go to the shops at lunch, i don't have the option of buying crap to eat. heres to a positive week :)

sushi - i meant to read your temp thread. will check it out and submit my opinion ;)

trns - how are you chickie? miss seeing you on the boards.

rosiek2277 07-02-2006 10:54 PM

Hello all,

I'm starting the month right and going the conversation want to make sure I stay commited and motivated this month.

Sushi Penguin - my weekend is also low key, just home and I have to work this monday...

Stephanie - What cereal is it?

Daisy - Before you know it, you'll just ask great!

LockItUp 07-02-2006 11:29 PM

Rosie - It's Kashi. Can't wait to try it in the morning, will let you know if it is at least good enough to choke down.

Ok, it's time to get serious, I just tried on my wedding dress and although it zipped up it was tight! AHHHHHHHHHH! It was fine a few weeks ago. I need to cut this crap and get to it!

Daisy - I'm sorry that show made you feel bad, but at least you have legs you've seen in person to shoot for. I am so ready for this week. You'd think that working at a gym would be motivation in itself, but surprisingly it is not.

trnsfrmnreplace 07-03-2006 03:08 AM

Daisy Boo - I'm alright. Just working. I actually just came home from the bar and i'm ready to get into bed and go to sleep. Got work tomorrow morning, my choice. =hits head= but i'm taking tuesday and friday off so it's good.

Fitness wise, i start the gym mornings tomorrow. We will see what happens when i wake up. =bug eyed=

haha

LockItUp - I sure did!

spillthebeans 07-03-2006 11:12 AM

Trnsfrmer: Good luck to you in the mornings, the whole key is to get to bed earliert than usual, have your stuff laid out, so you can sleep walk over to it, and get dressed and out the door. You'll love it, I used to be a morning workouter, but I will be back at it this month also. So we'll encourage one another.

I'm still really busy with school, today is my last day for my June summer course, but, then I start my next course in a few days. It's crazy, but it will be worth it, to get these two courses out of the way.

Good Luck Ladies for the month of July.

Stephanie Osborne 07-03-2006 01:12 PM

Ok I am hitting operation July hard already :coach: ! I will hit my monthly goal and look like a dream for all the weddings/baby showers that are coming up. Saturday I ran. I did not stop at all but it was inside on the treadmill which is always easier. I also did about half my strength routine (finished the other half yesterday) and got some decent stretching in. I just need to keep it up. Went to the pool with my neices yesterday and for the first time in a long time I was somewhat smug :snooty: about how I looked in my swimsuit. I can see this running thing paying off...it motivates me to keep going with it. I cannot believe it has taken me until now to figure out how much of a secret fat melter it was :cloud9: . So what are your plans for the 4th? Being good I hope?

sushi - YAY :carrot: I am so happy you are running again!

maja - no sleep? That is no good. Mornings it such a good plan...just get it over with. I know I could not do it though :tired: . Good luck.

steph - Im not big on cliff bars...balance bars and luna bars are fantastic though  . Sounds like you have a plan for this week.

Daisy - Its hard not to be jealous of girls like that. I shoot high school sports a lot and I am just in awe of their figures. But they have not really hit life yet you know. They haven't had the troubles that you get, that most of the time lead to the bodies we all own.

spill - You always sound so busy. Good luck to you to in July.

LockItUp 07-03-2006 04:29 PM

Stephie - I love the luna and balance bars too. I try to shop around so I don't get so sick of the ones I like. It's funny with running, I hate treadmill running, I can run further and faster outside, it's all mental for me with that though. I need to start running again. I just got orthotics about 2 weeks ago, so I can't wait to run, I had been getting horrible pain in the arches of my feet along with hip and knee pain after I would run, so I stopped. Sounds like you are doing very well!!!

Spill - Ahhh, summer classes. I opted to not take any this summer but I miss school very much right now. Come mid September I will probably be wishing it was summer again, but for now I can't wait for school again. I love how fast summer school is. I mean it is very hectic, but you get so much done that the regular semesters seem to be a snail pace!

Well, so far so good today, but it's only 1:30pm.

amb_lyn 07-04-2006 12:01 PM

Happy 4th everyone!! This week is going to be another busy week around here.. Next week will be worse. Thank goodness baseball season is almost over!! Tournament week is next week then we're done!

Since my husband has started eating healthier, my eating has amazing been soooooooooo on track!! I've hit the 10# mark! Wooohoo!! Finally!!

I need to exercise though, I know it would come off soooooo much faster if I did but the time is such an issue right now.. I probably just need to get up outta bed earlier than I do now and do it then before work, etc,etc.. I can always come up with an excuse to not exercise and I need to quit that!!

Anyone tried the healthy choice options for food, ie: sausages, etc? They're actually pretty darn good. Hubby & I have been trying all kinds of different lower calorie foods. Actually loving it!

Have a great week everyone!

rosiek2277 07-04-2006 12:33 PM

Happy 4th of July all! I'm staying home no point going anywhere I have to go to work tomorrow...

amb_lyn 07-04-2006 12:36 PM

Same with us Rosie. We'll be going to see fireworks tonight but other than that, we're staying at home.. Had to work yesterday, have to go back tomorrow.

Slimming Down 07-04-2006 11:06 PM

Well, I'm back home from our long weekend. I did ok. Monday and today were not as good. No exercising and my eating wasnt really that great. BUT its still better than what it used to be. I actually went into a mini-mart on the way home and by-passed all the unheathly treats!!!
So its back to the gym and back to eating fabolous tomorrow.
Amber- Gratz on hitting the 10 pound mark!!!

Daisy Boo 07-05-2006 12:53 AM

morning all

i hope all of you in the states had a great 4th of July.

i had yesterday off sick with a headache from monday. today i feel like i have a cold, but it has subsided as the day has gone on. still a bit heady, but not sniffling and sneezing.

i am getting my eating back on track after some stupid food choices and will get more exercise in tonight hopefully. the fact that the past few days have been gloomy and cold have not encouraged me to go outside and walk but today looks better. i haven't been for a walk for ages. my heel is better too. not as painful as it was on monday.

amb-lyn - congratulations on your milestone! you are doing great!

trns - how is the morning session treating you? i read a great blog entry the other day about morning exercise. might cross post it in my blog later. very convincing.

stephie - good girl for starting the month out strong. i am keeping my eye on your blog ;)

spillthebeans 07-05-2006 11:16 AM

It rained here on both firework events! Boo Hoo...this was the worst 4th ever, plus my bf is out of town. so depressing.

I'm thinking i'm going to workout for an hour and half tonight, I've been off exercising for the past 3 days...uh oh. Not a good start to July at all.

Stephanie Osborne 07-05-2006 12:54 PM

Well 4th of July was a disaster as far as eating and exercising goes. I really have set myself back with this one. But I did not get to look this way in a day and I won't be the smokin hot momma I want to be in a day either. I just have to learn how to be good in the longterm. So working the at home job for a long time today. Need to get at least my run in. Would be nice to get my strength training in as well. I need some momentum!

steph - I wish I could run faster and further outside...I think it is mental with me too lol. I am loving it...hopefully I can stick with it.

amblyn - Its amazing how much easier it is to eat right when your other half has his heart in it too! Great job on the 10#'s

rosie - happy 4th to you too!

slimming down - I am with you...tomorrow needs to be a good day for me eating and working out wise as well.

daisy - Glad your heel is feeling better. It really is the pits that being outside walking on your heel is your only cardio choice...have you thought about buying a spinner? They usually have older ones for pretty cheap in the paper.

spill - it rained before and after our fireworks. Was beautiful during the show though. Get a good workout in tonight, it will make you feel better!

WastedThermos 07-05-2006 01:51 PM

Eek! It`s wednesday and my first day back to the boards! It`s hard for me cause I have this week off and that's usually when I "have time" to catch up on everything. Eating/working out has been a little shakier than I expected but it doesn`t help that the vaca and july 4th coincided with PMS. rARR.. But yesterday I actually was pretty good. One hot dog for lunch with fresh fruit and then I had one of those grilled veggie boca burgers instead of the real thing for dinner. Unforunately I also had too much wine.. But, I finally got back to the gym today which should help with the cravings and I'm feeling less junk-food-crappy already.

britomart 07-05-2006 02:09 PM

Hey Ladies...

My fabulous 4-day weekend is gone :( But it was lots of fun! We had our own fireworks... Set the neighbor's field on fire... Saw Superman Returns... got lots of driving practice... went on a 10k hike... signed the lease on my new place... Lots of running around and doing stuff.

The hike was awesome (but pretty dang tough!). The trail we took was called Oak Canyon (or was it White Oak Canyon?), and it follows the path of a river up and up and up and up to waterfalls. The higher you make it, the more awesome the waterfalls get. If you make it up the full 5k, you have climbed 1,600 feet in altitude -- that's a lot of uphill! I sure was glad to turn around and point the other direction. It was really neat, at the lowest waterfall there is a still pool where you can swim, and a couple of small falls over rocks which are so slippery, people use them as slides. It was fun to watch all the people doing that.

Thanks for all the advice you all gave about driving a manual last week. The first thing I picked up was up shifting and down shifting... easy! It's taking me a bit more time to get comfortable with the rest of it. I am starting to feel the clutch point, though, which helps with hill starts (and starts in general -- holy cow I wasn't prepared for how hard it can be just to coax the darn car to go forward!). I'm making progress :)

Eating has probably balanced out with all my activities... but I don't think I'm working on the deficit I ought to be. I'm working on it, though...... I'm determined to make my goal this month!!

spillthebeans 07-05-2006 05:47 PM

Superman Returns was good, Brandon Routh is hot!

amb_lyn 07-05-2006 11:04 PM

OOHH, I too enjoyed Superman Returns. Unreal how he resembles Christopher Reeves soooooo much.. And on the hottie comment... OH YEA! LOL

Great flick! Looking forward for the next movies to come.

spillthebeans 07-06-2006 12:35 AM

ok, it worked. I forced myself to the gym, even though I had no desire.

I got on the treadmill to warm up and wham, I was feeling pumped after listening to a few jamming songs on my ipod.

got in a 90minute arms and cardio workout! woo hoo, now I'm motivated to kick butt the rest of the week.

I am reporting this, just to let you know. That sometimes, you really do just have to force yourself, sometimes you end up getting pumped, some times, you just drag through it.

ok, I need sleep now. c-ya'll tommorrow

junebug41 07-06-2006 08:09 AM

Hooray for the 3 day workweek! It's taking forever!

Lots of sleep, lots of food, and NO exercise! We ended up just kind of bumming around. We were already in the low-key mode by the time Jaime reminded me of what I did last year, so we are doing an ascent this coming weekend. If I manage one fourteener a year, I will be 77 when I finish! Might have to pick up the pace....

Getting back on track has been easier than I thought. I got in an hour of stairs/running/walking in the big arena yesterday and plan on running stairs at Inveso Field tonight.

Glad to hear Superman is good. We were thinking of checking it out at IMAX.

Stephanie Osborne 07-06-2006 05:11 PM

So yesterday was crazy. My whole city was like flooding and I decided to go to the gym HA THAT IS DEDICATION! To tell you the truth I was in a pissy mood and hubby was out of town so I thought I would work away my sorrows. Did pretty good got cardio and strength in. Man oh man can I feel it today!

wastedthermos - I always wanted to try one of those boca burgers. I usually eat turkey burgers but had not tried them. Any good?

brito - sounds like you had an absolutely fabulous 4th...Mine was good but not THAT good. Those waterfalls sound amazing the photographer that I am I would have been doing that hike lugging all my camera equipment :)

spill - Always a good idea to force yourself to go to the gym ! Wow nice on the mega minutes of cardio.

june - was there any flooding up there? We got hit pretty hard down here. Both the major highways into/out of my city were closed because the water took away chunks of the road! My internet, phone, tv were all out it was crazy.

junebug41 07-06-2006 05:27 PM

Actually, a sewer cap got blown off right below our apartment creating this massive guyser (sp?). The sewers kept up with it though. It was pretty interesting to watch people exit the bars, not see the 2 feet of water collecting, and completely fall in. It completely flooded out the lightrail tracks and was quite a headache for some folks (entertaining for us!). Between that and the fireworks, we didn't care that the ballgame was delayed.

And we had power through it all. Go know.

Daisy Boo 07-06-2006 09:11 PM

good news - i am down 1.4kg this morning bringing my total loss to 2.1kg (4.6lb).

the strange thing is that i haven't even exercised this week. just watched what i am eating.

i felt so relieved to see 106kg come up on the scale *sigh*

amb_lyn 07-06-2006 11:12 PM

Way to go Daisy! That's great!

spillthebeans 07-07-2006 10:35 AM

Great Job on the Loss! I'm jealous. I haven't seen a lostt in forever. I'm trying to change up my diet, and get my diet and workouts in sync. So far, still hasn't happened.

Happy Friday Ladies!!!

Stephanie Osborne 07-07-2006 11:14 AM

TGIF ladies. Well bad news and good news. Bad news first this financial crisis I am in had made me freeze my gym membership for the next two months. So I won't have to pay but I will be working out at home only for a while. I need to redo my monthly goal to figure in tennis and running being my only cardio lol. Good news I have lost 2 lbs...with being too broke to go splurge at a restuarant to gain it all back it should stick this time.

Not much going on today...just working my at home job then hopefully going for a run, and getting some yoga in. God I need it...I am stressed stressed stressed. I am cleaning my house from head to toe...trying to exercise what little control I have over things lately. Any big plans for the weekend chickadees?

june - that sounds hilarious...Ballgame? Did you guys go to Coors Field or INvesco to watch the fireworks?

Daisy - See now you know just how awesome you are doing (the rest of us knew already) Keep up the great work, you are going to get to 60kg...I know it.

Spill - TGIF for sure!

ladyjames63 07-07-2006 12:41 PM

Good job Daisy!!!

As for me, I think this is my first post in the weekly thread this week; I was spazzing for the latter half of June but now I think I can see the fruits of my labors. My main thing was that I was broke; some people don't get too bothered by this, but as I cannot drive, money is my only source of freedom and independence. The good news is that I have sorted everything out, so no stress for at least the rest of the summer on that front, which means minimal stress eating. The bad news is that it finally dawned on me how bad I eat when ORF is coming up, so I will have to consciously tackle that next month. Sorry to be speaking only of things that will happen in the future, but focusing on the-here-and-now does not work so well for me (alas).

As far as exercise and the like, I have been bad. Besides walking, I have not danced or biked or swum or anything. I guess I have done pushups a couple days, but overall I feel like a big ol' sack of fat. I have been reading sewing, fabric, and color theory books, so I know what exactly I should be sewing for myself. Losing weight feels nice, but my wallet does not like trying to replace my wardrobe every two months. I mean, really -- I got pants in mid-March, and one pair is foolishly baggy, and the other is only slightly baggy after I dry it on high for an hour. I feel like a hobo!

Wow, did that make any sense? I am sorry, my mind has literally been racing on overdrive for three or four weeks now -- I feel like a coke addict. Anyway, I am also happy to report that I am becoming very accustomed to a healthy lifestyle -- walking at least 5 miles a day and eating some fruit is something my body expects. I am working on teaching it to want veggies and dance class! :) Also, I can feel the muscles in my leg really taking shape; now that I know I am not poor, I am going to splurge on produce and lean meats to try and flush the fat out of my legs.

Whew! That was too much, sorry. I hope you ladies all have an excellent weekend!

misstraveller 07-09-2006 10:47 PM

Hey everyone!
It's been SO crazy lately, I haven't even found five minutes to post. And it didn't help that I couldn't find the thread...even after they posted that it was gonna move. So after backsliding a bit, I'm hoping to get right back on the wagon. Has anyone else felt like the summer is just zooming by? I don't know what happened to June. And getting ready to move to Europe, along with the parents getting a divorce has just sent me for a tailspin. Hope everyone else is having a better month than I am... :)
