Salad Spritzers

Wishbone has come out with salad spritzers. Well, tonight, my grocery store had them on sale for like $1.67 so i thought, might as well give it a whirl while it's on sale in case I don't like it. I bought the Italian Vinaigrette dressing. They have a Balsamic Vinaigrette and Red Win Vinaigrette.

It is 1 calorie per spray. A serving size is 10 sprays.. so 10calories a serving! It says a serving is for 1cup salad and there are 26 servings in the bottle so 260 sprays!

It tastes good as well! I tried it and went back to the store & bought the last bottle of Italian before the sale went off and it sold out.. LOL

Just wanted to share. Has anyone tried the other 2 kinds?

I tried the Balsamic- very yummy :) Wish I had caught them on sale :p

I really wanna try those. I tend to not put dressing on my salads because they are so high calorie so thats definatly an idea i would like to try.

ooh, I've been meaning to pick those up. They sound really yummy.

I wonder if they work on the Medifast plan? I wouldn't think a few squirts would hurt... :)

I am so glad that you liked it. I saw the commercials and thought, holy crap what a good idea I must try it, I haven't yet, but deffinitely will now!

Seeing as we haven't even got 100 cal snack packs on the shelves here yet, I bet it will be a while until we get anything like this.

It sounds like a great idea though. I am quite partial to a little balsamic as a dressing, or lemon/lime juice. My boyfriends sister makes a fantastic lemon poppyseed dressing that I absolutely love. I have no idea how many calories it is, but the taste is worth it.

I actually found a recipe for an orange poppyseed dressing recently. might give that a go and find out what the calorie content is.

geez i can dribble on and on . . . :o

I saw those and was tempted...but so expensive for so little! I bet I could buy my own spritzer and fill it with 0 cal dressing. Then again, there are so many good low cal dressings that I do measure out.

All that said...I would try the balsamic if I found it for under $2.

I haven't heard of these...but it sounds great. Definately something I'd love to try.

OMGoodness! Found them, bought them last week, LOVE THEM! I've decided to only use one dressing at a time, and I started with my favorite--the Red Wine Vinegarette. However, I was comparing all of them--since I bought one of each flavor, and there is a slight difference in sodium between the three, but that's about all I could find. They aren't cheap, but they're definitely worth it!

Ive been wanting to try those. I keep forgeting about them when I go shopping though.

DaisyJ 06-12-2006 07:56 PM

I hope they come out with other flavors, I like the idea but not the dressing flavors they have out. I hope they come out with the raspberry vinegarette spritzers ;) !

Me too Daisy... I'd rather have "spritzes" of creamy stuff. I know it would have more calories... but still WAY less than pouring the real stuff on.

Hmm... wonder if I could get a hairspray bottle from the dollar store and pour salad dressing in there? Do you think it would be dangerous to put food product in something not intended for food storage?

The Salad Spritzers are expensive, but I'd almost pay just for the idea of it! How come this hasn't occurred to anyone before?

Ooh, I know what I'll do -- I'll bite the bullet and buy one, then just refill the bottle with whatever I want. That should be safe, right?

WastedThermos 06-14-2006 02:32 PM

I think they make things specifically for this purpose that you could probably get at like... walmart, or definitely a bed, bath and beyond type store. I don't know about the dangers of putting it in a non-food bottle, but I wouldn't imagine it would be too bad .. especially if you washed it first?

Considering the fact that I knew people in high school who would sneak liquor by way of actual hair spray bottles, I think a plain old washed out spray bottle would be ok.
