Question about clothes

Ladies,

I just found out that I got an internship and I'm so excited! I will be working in a very upscale office and need to be dressed up everyday. I need help with finding shirts to wear. I was wondering where all of you buy your work clothes? I'm on a tight budget as well.

Thanks

Katie

Avenue has some nice office type clothing, it can be a bit expensive but they have great coupons if you sign up for their mailing list

No one says you have to buy expensive work clothes....I would say if you were on a budget try places like Charlotte Rousse, Express (sale), Target, Foleys...but if you can afford it Ann Taylor clothes last till the end of time and have special sizes for petites all the way though talls.

Kohl's has a huge selection of clothes and they are always very affordable!!! I'd say that would be a good place to go, and they have all sizes, not just ones with bigger numbers but are really just 3's, haha.

Kohls' is where i get most of mine! When I first started, I had to get a whole new wardrobe for work.. I went to Kohl's and shopped on the clearance rack!! I got 8whole outfits for about $115 i think. It was awesome!

Kohl’s is great, and surprisingly Old Navy has nice button down shirts (with a little stretch!) and “office casual” type slacks and skirts. I buy a lot of my clothes at Old Navy actually, and I get some great deals on the clearance racks there.

All my work shirts are from Target. Australian Target, but it shouldn't be too much different in the States, I think. :) What I like about them is that they go with business outfits, business-casual outfits, and even classy casual outfits.
If you're on a budget, I'd get versatile shirts - ones will go with different suits, and if you pick the colors well, you'll be able to make different combinations. Here Target has 20% off on all clothes quite regularly, so I'd probably wait for a sale... even if you need something very very fast - just get one or two shirts now, and more when the sale comes. :)

new york & company! they have great sales and they are the one store whose pants and shirts fit me VERY well. and they usually have a good selection of styles and colors-- not just one theme. these stores are usually in shopping malls.

in general i usually go to the mall and check out the clearance sections at dept stores and express, limited, etc. ann taylor is nice, but kinda pricey.

for plus sizes (that dont look like old lady clothes!) I go to Lane Bryant-- but clearance rack, or use their coupons on their classic button down shirts. Otherwise, Target does have nice plus clothing and shopko also. Old navy has awesome puls clothing, but not all stores sell it, so you can order it online and return to the stores if you want.

Old Navy! They usually have some cute dressy outfits. They have awesome sales, too.

I buy my work clothes from Target and Lane Bryant. I like Lane Bryant the best because I think the clothes fit me really well for a big girl. The clothes is cut just right. But it's pretty expensive for me! So, every payday I buy either a pair of slacks or a top to add to my wardrobe.

But I haven't been able to do that for some weeks since money is tight right now.

Dress barn or Rue21

On a strict budget, I find my plus-size clothing at Fashion Bug (won't last you a lifetime because of the quality, but won't cost you an arm and a leg, either), Wal-Mart, Lane Bryant (clearance racks and with coupons), Avenue (they usually have a TON of stuff on their clearance racks, not like Lane Bryant), and Sears. I don't like Target's plus-size clothing--seems to be cut on the small side (I bought a shirt there that was the biggest size they had, and it is still so tight I can't wear it even though I'm 30 pounds less now!).

I also buy most of my work clothes from New York and company (lerner), because they have great sales and everything is worth the money because they last a long time. You can join their mailing list online and they will send you coupons evey other week....I have never gone in there and paid full price, I always have a coupon.

Jcpenney also has great clothes for good prices.

Happy Shopping!!

I go the Fashion Bug route if I need something cute...usually you can find nice shirts for about $20. And I get my skirts and bottoms from Walmart, cuz I'm smaller on the bottom than on top.
