Hope you don't mind the date format. It takes me ages to get the dates right with the US version the other way - i keep checking and rechecking to make sure it is right before posting. Will see how we go with this one.
Anyway, the weekend was a hot one. We are trying to save money on the electricity bill so we had the air conditioner off during the day, and just had it on at night while sleeping. So anyway, i really didn't get up to much due to the stinky heat.
I did wash the doggies on Saturday and damn were my glutes hurting on Sunday! Funny how that happens. I planted some sweet pea seeds (first ever time so I am hoping they work ) and i sowed some other seeds for seasonal colour.
For the most part I just sorted through some paperwork and sat and dreamed up my fantasy vegie patch. Our garden is still a work in progress and the vegie patch will hopefully be the next project in the garden. I am aiming for having it ready for spring (Sept in the southern hemisphere). Nothing too big - I only have about 3m x 3m to play with. I have never had one before but like the idea of harvesting my own vegies and fruit. There is something comforting in that.
So, going to do some circuit training tonight at home and may take the dogs for a walk depending on the weather.
How was everyone elses weekend?
Teahoney - congrats on your loss!
Lockitup - well done with eating out. I know what you mean with just throwing caution to the wind and going all out. It is hard to break those habits and go for the healthier things and portion control. You did great
That date thing cracked me up, I don't think anyone will care, haha. Man that garden sounds so nice, I can't wait to have a place to plant one!!! Sounds like you had a productive weekend!
Me, I sulked all weekend mourning the end of spring break! Been OP so doing good. I have a date for trying on wedding dresses, so I have a tiny less than a month to lose 4,000 pounds. Ok, just like 10 would be good. Anyway I am a little freaked about it because I still feel like I am sooo fat, I know I am really not, but my brain hasn't caught up with my body yet! I really need to work on working out! I used to be so good at that and I have been so lazy! This week I will DO IT!
So today was a NSV. A couple of weeks ago I put on a pair of jeans I have had for a little while. They were on sale and I swore I would fit into them, how do you pass up a pair of jeans for $10. So back to the story. When I tried them on they fit but were just a little to tight for my liking. Everyone told me, they looked great but in my head they made me look huge. Well this morning I decided to try them on again. They fit perfectly and were even a little loose in the legs. I'm so excited, now I just need to pack up all the jeans that are to big for me and say goodbye for good, but its hard. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
Daisy ~ Oooh, a vegitable garden! I really want one of those! My dad has a nice place out in the country, but I think I'll get there too late to plant nice spring veggies (I won't get home till May 1st). I planted summer corn one year, but we were keeping our neighbor's horses while their barn was fixed and the horses jumped a gate and went and ate my corn I was very upset. Our neighbors brought us a can of creamed corn as an exchange...!
cowgirl ~ congrats on the NSV! I have the same problem, not wanting to throw away the "too big" pants for fear that I might need them again... I end up just tucking them away in the basement.
Stephanie ~ Wedding dress shopping is exciting! All those pretty dresses... You've got great motivation to reach your goal-- you can do it, we believe in you!
I'm trying to keep myself on track. I've let myself be off for so long that it's difficult to regain that determined mentality! I want to be in the 180's when I go home at the end of April, which should be a really easy goal to meet with the nice weather coming and all. I just gotta get off my butt and do it I have two term papers, one short paper, two italian assignments, my thesis, and three exams and then I'm DONE with undergrad. It sounds like a lot... And it is kind of intimidating... But soon it will ALL be over!!
Daisy, I love gardening! I can't do it here because because my "yard" is about the size of a postage stamp. However when I lived with me mom she was big into gardening and landscaping and every spring we'd plant a veggie patch. I didn't actually eat the veggies but I loved growing them. Well that's not true, I grew potatoes and watermelon. Those were mine to take care. My mom did peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, all kinds of stuff. Boy I better stop, I'm getting a little homesick...
The good news here is my eating is FINALLY back on track. I was having trouble doing the day to day calories because I just kept. Like "Oh 100 more calories won't hurt!" And there was no planning ahead for high days. So what I ended up doing was taking 1800 cals (the most I want per day) and multipying by 7 for the week for a total of 12600 calories. Everyday I subtract the amount of calories I eat from that and I just have to stay under for the week. This way it keeps me accountable for my high days and I have to make up for it by having some 1500-1600 days. I hope I explained it right, but it's wokring for me! I've lost two pounds since I've gotten my eating back under control. To reach my Easter goal I need to lose 2.5 pounds per week. It just might be doable!
New here! Well new to posting not necessarily the site.
I have finally decided it’s time to lose all the weight I’ve gained since getting married. I have done really well since December lost 16lbs but have so much more to lose. Honestly, it seems like every Monday I get back on track and every Saturday I fall off the wagon!
I am extremely excited because last night I finally ordered my treadmill and it should be arriving in 4-6 weeks. That means I can finally start exercising in the privacy of my home.
Daisy - I got family in Australia... must be nice to be surrounded by water on all sides. I heard it has been HOT though. It's been raining here for a week now in Southern California. I miss the contant rain i got in Northern Cali, so this feels like a treat.
OOoo a veggie patch! Sounds yummy! We have a bunch of fruit tree's. Our orange tree has been giving us the juciest sweetiest oranges this winter. Nothing better then feeling like you need something sweet and just going to the garden to grab a nice orange, or make fresh squeezed orange juice.
LockItUp - I'm sure you will fit in your dress and look amazing!
citycowgirl - Congrats on the weight loss. I've been telling myself to get new jeans for the past few months but i keep saying "You need to reach your goal first." I think i might just need to get an "in between" pair because these look HOrrible on me.
britomart - You can do it, weightloss and school.
stacylambert - Good job on the weightloss and getting back on track. I really think you can reach your goal by Easter.
rosiek2277 - Congrats on the weightloss thus far... 16 pounds is a great accomplishment. I know how it is living with a man, they can eat ANYTHING! What treadmill did you get? How much did you get it for? I would love on in my home. But i'm saving for a new camera that will cost me a coupl grand. BOO.
This weekend was horrible. I drank a little bit too much, i really paid for it yesterday. I didn't get to go to the gym. =sighs= Today is another day. I'm not too worried about it.
I was wondering, actually.... maybe you guys can help.... I was thinking about starting to run. There's a nice park behind our house, and since the weather is becoming warmer it'd be a good thing for me to do. However, when I mentioned this to my fiance, he said I should lose some more weight first before starting a running program, so that I don't encounter joint problems. Is there validity in this concern? I know running is tough on your knees, but I've got really strong legs to begin with. Besides, the point of running is to help with the weight loss -- not be a benefit of the weight loss. What do you guys think?
It's funny you should ask that, because whenever I run I have trouble with my knees or hips or feet (I still run, I know that's dumb). This never happened before I gained all the weight I did. Back then I did run (I was 190 at my heaviest) quite a bit (off and on anyway) before I actually started losing and then when I decided to actually try. I thought yesterday, I wonder if I started having trouble then because of all the extra weight, 40 pounds extra than my body was used to. I am definitely NOT saying don't run at all, I think if you want, you should (intervalling is good too, walk/run a couple minutes each). I just think it's ironic I was just thinking about whether or not running when I was heavier is to blame for my aches and pains now.
Sorry I'm a little behind. Between my parents being here half of last week and then making up the work I missed, I've been very busy. Let me summarize: I ate too much every single day last week except for 1. I only worked out a few days. I definitely gained weight. I ate too many calories and moved too little not to. TOM is coming so this week it will be hard to tell how bad the damage is, but I'll see next week. I'm upset b/c I went way beyond the "high calories to jumpstart metabolism" idea. I overate, period. I ate when I wasn't hungry. I ate to feed my emotions. It wasn't pretty.
That being said, my parents & I had a great visit. They met and really like BF (and his dog). And I got a part in a play with the local community theater group. Rehearsals start tonight.
I actually regained focus yesterday. I ate well all day and cooked a really yummy Weight Watchers version of General Tsao's chicken, brown rice, and vegetables for BF and I, and portioned out enough for the next 3 nights in meal-sized tupperwares (since I have rehearsal every night this week). I went to the gym and will keep going - I have exactly enough time between work and rehearsal.
Daisy, I just started a potted herb garden on my porch and I've got the gardening bug for sure. My mom is into gardening so she took me to get seedlings, soil, pots etc. while she was here. I cannot wait have fresh herbs to cook with. I gets too hot here in the summer for a vegetable patch but I'm going to try one in the fall when it's cooler.
Stephanie, when you go wedding dress shopping try to focus on the fact that you're fitting into smaller sizes, not that you want to be even smaller! Look how far you've come already!
Citycowgirl, awesome NSV! I'll bet you look HOT in those jeans.
britomart, I'd say if you want to try and run, go for it. It's certainly harder on your joints when you're heavier versus lighter, but nobody's asking you to start off with marathons. Alternate running & walking can help keep your heart rate up give your metabolism a boost. Maybe try running from this tree to that one, then walking to the next, then running a bit more, etc. (or use whatever kind of landmarks you have in your park). Increase distance slowly. If your joints start to hurt then you can always stop or reduce your distance. I used to run short distances when I was close to 200 pounds, and I know plenty of people who run at higher weights.
Hi to everyone else! I'm going to be better about posting this week as I continue to stay OP (for your sake as much as mine - I'm sure you love these novel-sized posts I write when I'm catching up ).
I'm back from a 12 day vacation, and guess what? I only put on five pounds. I'm pretty happy for that, since I didn't really exercise & ate at a lot of buffets!
So Boise, ID, was cold.-met the bf family
Vegas was a blast, no sleep ,just partying
and the Grand Canyon was a grand finale.
it was a great Road Trip
I think this was the best spring break ever....back to the grind now.
I'm actually looking forward to going to the gym tonight! Weee!
trnsfrmnreplace – I got the “2006 IRONMAN Inspire Folding Treadmill $1399.99” from Costco online. It’s a pretty hefty price tag but considering I’m a big girl I wanted something that was sturdy and big. I’m super excited and completely ready to kick my weight loss into a whole another level. Unfortunately, I have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery.
britomart – As a previous runner, in a past life before the weight gain. I can honestly say that you can pretty much jog at whatever weight you want, but it can be cumbersome I’ve noticed. I tried it when I was at my high (215) and it was really difficult. I felt awkward and heavy. I am hoping that now 16lbs lighter it will be better.
Thanks for the running advice, guys.... I figured if I start running/jogging I'd have to start with intervals anyway (no long-distance running here!). I have done a little running in the past and did feel awkward, but that's the reason you do stuff like that, right? So that eventually it won't be awkward because you'll be in better shape! I think I'll go for it.... slowly. I'd like to try anyway
rosiek2277 - OOoo i like how it has the light up track, i always need that for inspiration, to go further, instead of number counting.
britomart - Yeah i would go with intervals. Start out jogging and make your way up.
Seems like a lot of people went on vacations for their spring break. LUCKY!
It is time to head to the gym tonight for sure. I can't wait. I think i want to spend there a good solid two hours. I wish i had my own home gym. 615 minutes to go!
woke up this morning at 6.45am, alarm had been going since 6.30 and i slept through it for 15 mins. had just enough energy to go across the room to turn it off and then fell back into bed. had a headache, could hardly focus, so tired.
the house is a mess, i have so much to do and i miss my boyfriend. he is away for 2 more nights for work. i came home yesterday and eventually jumped on the computer - he had a doc open saying "i love you" with a pic of some flowers. he is a sweetie.
been a crappy week. i went to get out the last of our savings on monday to buy food and the atm didn't give me my money, but deducted it from our account. so no food. stupid thing. i went to the bank and filled out a dispute form but it takes up to 3 weeks to be resolved!
