Sweat

Lets talk about sweat baby lets talk about you and me, lets talk about all the good things and the bad things it can be. lets talk about sweat.

So, it all started on thursday last week. My spinning instructor said, I don't want this to be a sweaty corse, I need to go to an interview - I was like good! By the end of the class I had sweat a lot. It was like water gushing out of my skin. It was something I don't think I ever experienced before - not even when I was training for the marathon - but maybe that was because I was running mostly outside?

I don't know - but since then I have been sweating a lot. For example today I was sweating buckets after our intense 10 minute workout - and in my spin class I usually allocate myself 4 paper towells - and they were all soaked and I need another one by the end of the workout!

I looked it up a bit - and people say it is because I am getting fit. Now I have been consistenly working out 6 days a week for at least an hour for the past 3 weeks - which I am so proud of - I am hoping by next week I can up it to 1.5 hours at least 3 times a week. (sometimes it is a bit longer than an hour). Now if the weight would just start falling off!

And I think I may have to invest in more workout clothes again - since they are getting wetter faster and prob will start smelling more ;) though I must say the sweat isn't as salty as it prob used to be ;)

tell me ure sweaty stories!

i find when i exercise by myself (treadmill, walking, stairmaster, whatever) i don't sweat. i only sweat when i'm doing an exercise video or in an exercise class. i need that motivation from some one else.

i've never dripped buckets though. usually i'm happy when i sweat onto my t-shirt.

It's a mystery to me as well. There are some things that I don't get that sweaty doing, and somethings I'll leave with my shirt soaked through. Not to mention one of my arm pits sweats more than the other, just normally (which is totally annoying and embarassing). I've stopped trying to understand it, but I would love to.

Yeah I'm like that too! I do a bodystep class at the gym and the sweat is just pouring out of me. However, 45 minutes on the eliptical and I've got a "glow" so to speak.

One song dancing (very high energy swing) and I'll have a back spot.

40 min and 4 miles, and I'll be damp (but my face will have sweated quite a bit).

It depends for me as well. Usually I sweat when I'm on the elliptical. It starts with my back and then my face starts to sweat. Sometimes I start sweating on my face at around 20 minutes while others at like 40 minutes. During my cardio seduction class I sweat on my back ususally. When I go out dancing it's the same thing, back, face and sometimes armpits *gross.*

I notice that I sweat more now that I'm exercising more. I also exercise around 6 days a week.

I dont usually sweat too much during excercise class. But this last week it has been cold outside so the gym turns on the heat!! OMG its fine if they dont turn on the heat but when they crank up the heat and then I work out with weights and cardio and I sweat buckets. Its insane really.

The way I look at it, the sweat is proof I'm working hard. If I'm not sweating, I'm not working hard enough and need to step it up.

Then again, I have a bit of a sweat issue, and if I'm overheated, I'll sweat just sitting down.

bida 02-20-2006 05:26 AM

well - it is the body's cooling system - Today it cooled me down again ;) even though it was cool out!

my dad told me it was genetic - I said oh thanks!

I am the same I mostly sweat when in a group setting with people who push me really hard. On the same kind of weird note anyone get itchy when the do cardio. Whenever I am doing an intense cardio workout my 'chunkas' start to itch. Its like the fat is tired of jiggling up and down and is trying to annoy me into stopping.

jdoggmartin 02-20-2006 02:30 PM

Sweat confuses me! I can do the same machine at the same intensity, and one day, I barely break a sweat. The next day, I am pouring buckets. It doesn't make sense to me. :?: I wonder if it has anything to do with what I eat or how much water I drink??

Stephie: I occasionally get the itchy chunkas or itchy thighs. I used to more often when I wasn't working out regularly. I guess they've realized exercise is routine now, and they just have to put up with it. :)

bida 02-20-2006 04:07 PM

yes - the itchy thing is a nightmare
do you notice it only happens where ure clothes are covering your skin? It has to do, I believe, with the pours opening up and getting a bit irritated at the rubbing faboric. There is nothing, it seemed, for me to do about it, except keeping excercising frequently :)
that feeling is awful - when I began this year with my run outside (when I just started working out again) it was like attack of the itches - so ANNOYING. you just want to scratch.

HAHA You girls are too funny :)

britomart 02-20-2006 08:15 PM

I get the itchy thing on places not with clothing... Like when I'm doing aquacardio, nothing is covering my legs but they do start to itch after jogging for a while. I think it's just cos the blood rushes to the surface of the skin and...... something happens. And then it itches. :D
