Period

How does it affect your weightloss?

Now tell me who cringed, coz Im sure I wuda!

LaurenDougherty 02-17-2006 02:20 PM

I retain a lot of water during my period so I feel fatter and I don't really lose any weight either right before my period or for the first couple of days. For the tail end of my period, though, and for around 4 days after I have my best weight loss of the month. The water weight seems to go away and for some reason my body wants to lose weight.

No cringing here.

angeleyezx 02-17-2006 02:25 PM

thats cool, me see I have no history to put this to.
I am really unregular and go somein like 2-3 months without one.
this period I just had I felt fatter but didnt lose/gain I dont think and then after or tail I lost 1lb yesterday and 1 today.
usually I get alot of chocolate cravings which doesnt help, but this time nothing.

It doesn't affect my weight at all, but that may be because I am on the pill, and compared to the other brand of pill I took, this one seems to reduce the little bit of bloating I got before. So I am one of the lucky ones.

The only problem i have is i get super cravings for random things before it. :foot:

I retain water a few days before my period and I'm bloated on my period. I try not to weigh a week before and during because I don't lose and usually end up gaining. Oh and guess what I got today?!?!? My period :(

britomart 02-17-2006 04:56 PM

I usually don't have bloating issues... but I'm on the pill as well so that might help. Though I don't remember having huge bloating problems before I was on the pill... The worst side effect of my period is ZITS! Damn them, I'm not 14 anymore!!

LockItUp 02-17-2006 05:51 PM

Britomart - I totally know what you mean. I thought that geting older meant no zits, now there's not point in getting older at all!

kayleystar 02-17-2006 08:21 PM

I'm so irregular, and even when I get one, I don't notice a change...hopefully with the weight I'm losing, it'll regulate itself! :crossed:

lizzbabe 02-17-2006 08:30 PM

kayleystar i am in the same boat as you as far as the period thing goes. I am more regular when i take the pill so i should probably start that again

me too. i tend to crave milk and could drink 1ltr in a sitting if i didn't have some control. ;) i haven't noticed any other weight related side effects.

happydaisy 02-18-2006 05:47 PM

stephanie - if you don't mind my asking, what pill are you on? I used to be on the pill but I felt bloated on it.

LegendaryZelda 02-18-2006 06:50 PM

I have PCOS, so I am on the pill so I get regular periods. I just started a new pill, Yasmin. So far I like it ok. I seem to be losing a bit of water weight, and I've heard other people say they notice a decent weight loss/less bloating around period time.

britomart 02-18-2006 07:34 PM

I'm on Alesse, which is the first one they had me try. It's monophasic, which means there is the same combination of hormones in each pill. Didn't have to mess with hormone levels and switch pill brands or anything -- my body just accepted it. Never had a problem feeling bloated, "not myself," sore, or any of those other pill-related complaints.

Happy - I am on Trivora, which is generic for Triphasil. I used to be on Mircette, or actually Kariva (the genric form), but I lost my insurance and needed the cheapest thing out there. And it just so happens it made my peroid shorter and lighter, and no bloating! And it's only $15!!! My other was only $5 with insurance, but $37 without. So that's the story of that!
