a size question

I would love love love to be a stable size 3/4.. what weight do you think id have to be? I know theres all sorts of factors like muscle, height and blah blah but generally, I wonder what 3/4 people weigh. I am 5'3.5" (all short people take pride in their half inches, haha) I have a ton of 5/6's from express but I really can't remember how much I weighed when I wore them.. anyone know?

lizzbabe 02-12-2006 05:37 PM

I don't know for sure but I would guess 125ish? I am 5'8'' and around 140 I am a good size 4. But like you said, body frame and muscle work into it a lot.

trnsfrmnreplace 02-12-2006 05:50 PM

I'm 121 at 5'7 and i'm a size 7. I think it really depends on your body frame.

Lyria 02-12-2006 06:24 PM

I'm 130 at 5'6 and an 4/6. I have much bigger hips than waist though...so pants are nearly always a size bigger than tops lol.

at 115 pounds though I was a 2/4

wundawoman 02-12-2006 08:23 PM

Size

Everything depends upon height, your shape and how much muscle you have.

Of course, if you read the weight loss issues of "People" magazine, everyone, no matter their weight, wears a size 8! I remember when Carnie Wilson was down to 150, they said she wore a size 6! She's shorter than I am, and when I weight 150, I wear a 12 on top and a 14/16 on the bottom! (And I'm in good physical shape!)

Another factor -- In women's clothing, there are no standards for size. A friend of mine once told me that if I tried on enough clothes, I'd be some designer's size 10! The longer I live, the more I believe it to be true.

maegdaeien 02-12-2006 08:27 PM

I agree with everyone-- I mean, Lizzbabe and I are the same height and she said at 140 she's a size 4-- when I was 140 I was a 10 or 12! There is just no way to know.

DeafinlySmart 02-12-2006 08:33 PM

I'm 5'4" at 125 (my lowest weight) I wore 7/8. I couldn't imagine 3/4.

AndreaHope 02-12-2006 08:33 PM

I am 5'5 and about 142 and a size 3/4. I attribute this to an apple shape, my hips and butt are small. I think it definitely depends on shape, etc.

Daisy Boo 02-12-2006 09:19 PM

the US size vs australian size is 4 sizes isn't it? ie size 10 US is size 14 australian?

if so my lowest weight at 5'9" was 140lbs (65kg) and i was in a size 10 aus, so size 6 US. I love US sizing! :D

Lyria 02-12-2006 11:11 PM

I think it is Daisy, I'm an Aussie too.

Heh, yeah, American sizes sound so flattering :P It's kind of nice to think over there I'm a 4/6 whereas here i'm an 8/10. Never mind the fact that they're really just the same thing. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet!

Im a US 12 according to this conversion website
http://www.usatourist.com/english/tips/sizes.html
Im 4'11'' I think and 137lbs

srmb60 02-13-2006 05:39 AM

I don't usually pop in here because quite frankly my kids fit in this category better than I do ... however. My newest jeans are made by Santa Barbara and they are a 3/4. My Levis however are a size 6 so I dunno.

Any time you are shopping try on lots of different brands. I had on a British made blazer the other day that was a 2. It was too big ... ugly a sin but GIRLS! ... a size two that was too big!

anyothername 02-13-2006 11:36 AM

I'm 5'4" and throughout about a 20 pound fluxuation am anywhere between a loose six and a loose four. I have huge boobs though for my height so I'm convinced that a lot of my weight is in them (range between a full D-DDD, depending on weight), even though they don't look that big. It really just depends on your build, your bone structure, etc.

lateralus98 02-13-2006 12:13 PM

At 130, 5'2'', I am a size 7/8

It really depends on your build, hon :)

healthyme05 02-13-2006 12:17 PM

I'm 5'4" and at 145 pounds I wear a size 8.
It seems that for about every 10 pounds I lose I also lose a size as well.
So when I started out I was 183 pounds and in a size 14.

But of course, everyone is different!

VelVeeta 02-13-2006 04:36 PM

Several factors go into this. Height, weight, body frame, type of clothing you wear (every brand's sizing differs) You must know your body and go from there. Maybe keep a journal so you know what weight you need to be at to fit the size clothes you want to be in.

KayElle 02-16-2006 02:35 PM

Everyone is right, it really depends on body frame, etc. I just wanted to add that it can also vary greatly on the same person. About 10 years ago I went on a severely calorie restricted diet and did not exercise much at all. I managed to get down to about 122 pounds (but obviously I was miserable and starving and promptly gained it back). I still have the size 8's that I was wearing when I was 122 pounds, and I've tried them on but they are way too big for me to wear now even though I am over 20 pounds heavier. I now wear 4's and even some of those are baggy. The difference is that this time I lost the weight by eating a lot of healthy food along with lots of exercise, so I'm sure my body composition is very different than it was back then. Plus, even though I'm just maintaining now, I am still toning and tightening up with all the exercise, so my clothes just keep getting bigger on me. I still get the "wow, you are just getting skinnier every day" comments even though I'm not losing anything and haven't been for a while.

Lucky13 03-15-2006 03:52 PM

it's weird...

I weigh over 160 pounds (I'm 5'7) and fit into a lot of 8's, but mostly 10's. I have a lot of muscle tone so that definitely attributes to it...

sierra_ttw 03-15-2006 06:12 PM

I'm 5'2.5" and fit into a 4 when I was 120 - we don't need to go into what I fit into now!

anyothername 03-15-2006 06:37 PM

I'm a size four, and fit into fours ranging from 115-139

Edit: I'm 5'4

JennyDee25 03-15-2006 07:28 PM

I am a size 12 at 184 pounds, when I was 199 I was a 14/13. I think it all depends on your body type, muscle mass, bone structure. The way you eat and the amount and type of exercise you are doing all plays an important factor in the way your body shape forms. I believe that for about every 12 pounds you lose you should lose a dress size!

Alaynna 03-16-2006 07:10 AM

Right now I am 5'7 and 154 pounds ..I am in a size 10....I want to be down to a 5/6..which will probably be when I am 130-135

But when I started my weight was 175 and I was a size 12...even after 21 pounds I only lost one dress size....but it was because I lost the weight all over and I am very small boned....when I was 5'7 in high school and weighed 138 I was in a size 7/8...so the next 20 pounds lost will be better for me

redlight 04-08-2006 11:39 PM

I'm 5'7" and 165 or so. I'm comfortable in 12s but can squeeze into 10s or even some 8s -- my belly ooozes out in the lower sizes.

rosiek2277 04-09-2006 11:19 PM

At my lowest 125 I was a 6/7.

lissa9501 04-09-2006 11:25 PM

umm ok i'm 5'5" and currently in a size 16 at 185 pounds and at my lowest i was 120/129 i wore a size 11/12

LaurenDougherty 04-10-2006 08:42 AM

I am 5'9" and at between 145 and 150 lbs. I am either a size 6 or a size 8 depending on the brand/cut. I wear a size 4 in skirts though (no idea why this is different).

I have a friend who is 5'2", though, and at between 110 and 120 pounds she fits in a size 2. So, at around 5'3" i think you could be a size 4 between 125 and 130 lbs. (again, as everybody else has said...depends on your build).
