take-out dinner ideas?

Hi ladies, I've got a question for you. We're getting a new stove and countertops installed in our apartment today and likely won't be able to use anything in the kitchen for dinner tonight.

I'm trying to think of something healthy to pick up on the way home that we can eat...any ideas? The best I've been able to come up with is picking up sandwiches or salads from a Wild Oats nearby, but I'd love to hear any other suggestions! :hun:

Subway sandwiches! :T

When I eat out, I try to go online first and look at the nutrional facts. If you decide to do fast food, you can see how many calories you will be eating.

Salad Bars! Love mine at my supermarket! I get a huge one with tuna or chicken for about $6 and HB and I share it! Yummy!

Chinese! Mmm. You can stay away from the fried dishes, or what my husband and I often do is order a broth based soup like egg drop, hot and sour, wonton, subgum.... If they're overgenerous with the noodles, you can just serve yourself more of the broth.

I could never order chinese food... it would be too tempting to order my favorite (VERY FATTENING) dishes.

Any sub sandwhiches are a good "easy and cheap" idea.
Or order in from your favorite healthy restaurant, you can get broiled chicken with a baked potato.

I love the KFC grilled chicken salad. If you only use half the dressing packet it's not that bad cal wise.

Pitas!

Usually chinese places have some kind of steamed veggies dish. Other than that, I agree that the salad bar at the supermarket is a good idea. We have a local pizza place that makes low-cal pizza options . . .

I don't think I could do Chinese. I'd go straight for the General Cho's Chicken, ignoring all healthier options!

If I were ordering takeout tonight, I'd probably get either a nice big salad, pitas, or wrap sandwiches.

Japanese food. Usually some good healthy options with that. Just watch out for the carbs.

I agree with Jess..sushi is delicious and low cal!

a Rotisserie (sp?) Chicken from your local grocery store, and some sides from the deli...no to expensive either.

The sandwiches or salads from Wild Oats sounds good. You also may want to look around, because sometimes they have pre-packaged dinners in there that are pretty healthy.

This will answer all of your questions...here is a cool link (maybe you all have seen this, I'm new so I'm not sure...) It tells all the calories in almost every chain restaurant fastfood...goodluck!
